No such luck. Ranma was gone.
A little boy screamed as he tumbled through a landscape that would have delighted Dali and Escher and given them inspiration for years to come.
Ranma screamed even more as he became aware there were THINGS out there.
One, a Vastness, he could sense in ways he couldn't immediately explain. He KNEW it on a level. This was something HUGE - it was almost unimaginably bigger than him, it was a lot smarter than him, it was more powerful than he could even really get a grasp on, and it HATED to such an extent that it was absolutely consumed by that hate.
Ripped and torn and burned by just passing near THAT, Ranma fell away and found another.
This one was also bigger than he. Immense and powerful and intelligent, at least as much as the first - perhaps more so. This was different though. He felt this flowing compassion greater than anything he could have imagined, washing over and healing him. Ranma wept as he felt that pass by him.
There were Others out there too. He knew that for a brief moment. Then one of those Others moved him. One pearl in a string of pearls loomed huge, becoming an entire world that swelled up before him.
He blinked just as he could make out continents and swirling clouds and sparkling oceans.
"-just appeared out of nowhere, in front of a crowd of fifty people."
"Some kind of teleportation accident?"
"Or time travel, or any number of possibilities. Most likely the child doesn't know himself. We interrogated him but most of his replies made no sense. Whatever he went through has probably caused him to block out most of the details and come up with this bizarre story."
"Yeah, poor kid. So what's going to happen to him?"
"There's a researcher who has agreed to take the boy on. Maybe the boy will remember more details over time. He doesn't know anything about pokemon, so either he was raised in an area without them or he's blocked those details."
"It's hard to imagine a place without at least some pokemon, so it's all blocked."
Ranma stirred slightly, wondering what a pokemon was and why they were important.
"Let the kid sleep," came one of the two voices. "Whatever the case, he's been through a lot."
