On many pokegirl worlds, anime, manga, comics and TV series (from before or after Sukebe's War) influenced many parents when they had to choose a name for their children. And naturally, the little pokegirls tended to hang out and play more with the ones whose names are already associated with theirs, forming groups 'just like in the original story'.
On that particular world (whom we shall call the cute and cuddly pokegirl universe, or CC pokeworld for short), there had been a successful TV series called 'Cherry Warriors'. In this, a group of pokegirls along with their master/special someone belonged to a special crime-fighting unit masquerading as an itinerant singing/theatre troupe. They went from town to town, righting wrongs and facing criminals, rogue pokegirls (a few pokegirls are naturally immune to the drug, less than 0.5% of the total population) and demonic entities from other dimensions.
So when they went through the portal and saved the poor cute boy from being sacrificed by the evil fat cultist, it was like a dream come true for them! Now they could live the same life of adventure the characters they were named after did! The boy they rescued was cute, he seemed nice and the group's psychic vouched for him as well.
As for Ranma, he was slowly coming to terms with the fact he was being swamped by six affectionate and cuddly little girls around his own age, except some of them were obviously more than human. And try as he might, he couldn't escape. So he decided to bide his time, surely they would grow tired of this sooner or later.

Ranma had woken up the next day, still in the embrace of the pokegirls. When he realized that he had slept with them, he also realized that it had been... nice somehow.
Ranma's stomach grumbled. He hadn't eaten all that much these days. Fortunately, since Genma had been blasted away, that meant he had left his backpack behind him with their provisions.
Then the girls woke up as well and joined him in enjoying breakfast. At last, introductions were made.
Sakura was a Slicer. She looked perfectly human, a little japanese girl with short black hair and wearing a pink kimono with cherry flowers motifs. While eating (and sighing a lot when looking at Ranma), she was thinking that a nice haircut would make Ranma more like Oogami-san, Cherry Warriors' male hero.
Sumire, herself, had clearly animal traits and a violet shade of fur. A Vulvix, the young stage of the vixxen, she was the most demanding in the cuddles department. She was a little haughty, claiming to be a future 'star', and felt she deserved a preferential treatment from all, especially Ranma.
Maria was an Icemaiden. She was the nominal leader of the little group of pokegirls, thanks to her cool and thoughtful demeanor. While her current toy gun couldn't do anything, her cold and ice powers were nothing to be sneezed at.
Kohran was a Kitten. She had cat ears sticking out of her hair and a tail. She was wearing glasses, even if she didn't need them, to be closer to the original Kohran, a Nerdette pokegirl. She wanted to study technology and become an engineer like her role-model.
Iris was an oddity for a pokegirl since she was a young A-bra. An infortunate and premature encounter with an esper stone had transformed the then-nymph Iris when she was an infant. Her psychic powers were huge (the telekinetic blast which sent Genma flying over the horizon attested to that) but she had difficulty to control them. They were also very tiring to use and Iris tended to sleep even more than full-grown A-bras.
Kanna was the last member of the little group who 'saved' Ranma from a 'fate worse than Death'. A young tyamazon, she had been delighted at learning that Ranma was a martial artist in training. However, she would have to show him that girls weren't weak and unable to fight for a start.
Ranma Saotome had just been separated from his good buddy Ucchan and craved friendship. So what if his new friends were super-powered girls? At this point in his life, he wasn't picky anymore...
