If she opened her eyes and saw munchkins and a Yellow Brick Road she was going to swear off that Blue Demon sake she'd had a couple of cups of last night. Well, except for very special occasions.
Someone had caught her when she'd fallen, she'd been fading in and out of consciousness after the amazingly cold winds had battered her. Then she'd felt someone catch her, somehow taking the impact mainly into themselves. Now she was...
Now she was being held in a couple of strong warm arms and she heard Michiru's voice.
"Is she all right?"
"Yeah, she's just disoriented. That move uses the strength of the attacker against them, and the cold chi kinda disorients most people. Kinda like being hit with a bucket of cold water outta nowhere."
Sailor Uranus slowly creaked one eyelid open, forcing herself out of the dark comfort. "Whassa wha?"
"So..." said Ranma, setting her back down. "Ya still objecting to my being able to train yer daughter?"
Sailor Uranus thought about it. His ability in the martial arts she acknowledged. His ability as a sensei was something else and she wasn't too sure about that. Then she took in the look on Hotaru's face.
That particular battle had apparently been fought and lost. While Hotaru turned a concerned look towards her "Haruka-poppa" the expression turned towards one Ranma Saotome was clearly admiration.
"Can I learn how to do that?"
Sailor Uranus sagged and turned back to Haruka Ten'ou. Lost.
"Nah, that's high end stuff," said Ranma.
"No reason to teach her that," agreed Setsuna. "Or the Moko Takabisha."
"You know about that?" asked Ranma.
"I have my sources," said Setsuna.
"Yer able to do this magic-cheerleader stuff too," said Ranma, putting two and two together and coming up with close-enough.
"Yes," acknowledged Setsuna. "You understand that this is all very secret. Just as none of us will spread your own secrets, we are counting on you not to spread ours. Whereas your secrets are potentially embarassing, ours can cause innocent lives to be lost."
"Huh, like 'Magic Knight Rayearth' or something? Though I like Hikaru's sword better than that thing Haruka was attacking me with," said Ranma.
"Something like that, or like 'Wedding Peach'," agreed Setsuna. "Ancient enemies out to destroy or enslave mankind, sentai team gathered together to protect the world. That sort of thing."
"Okay," said Ranma, frowning at something. He wasn't familiar with that 'Wedding Peach' stuff, just the name indicated something he'd have steered clear of. That wasn't the point that bothered him. "How come I never heard of it?"
"Neither us, nor our enemies, advertise," pointed Setsuna. "Nor is the government or its agencies really willing to point out something that ludicrous or that they are essentially powerless to defend their citizens."
"Okay, I guess I can see that," said Ranma as Haruka finally staggered away. "That's how you know so much about me. How much do you know?"
Setsuna hesitated, her normally calm and mysterious expression flitting through a series of unconcealed feelings. "I know more about your past than you do."
Ranma nodded at that. He wasn't that good at reading people, not really. He saw the way she looked away and briefly had gone through two expressions he wasn't really familiar with enough to read - and brief anger - and put it down to some stuff he didn't know about. She apparently wasn't blaming him, so something he hadn't done. That left one candidate to mind, and it wouldn't exactly be the first time his old man had left him holding the bag - would it?
Of course, he had been HIRED to teach a little girl some basic martial arts. Waitaminute. Ranma's eyes narrowed. Knew his past. Fighting ancient monster kinda-things. Protecting the Earth. There was an obvious conclusion.
