Yumi Kuno: You have so much in common... [Episode 78614]

by deitarion/SSokolow

Akane was in her room doing her homework when there was a knock at the door. From the other side came Yumi's voice. "May I come in?"

"Ok," repied Akane. "But don't try that 'At least he's not Kuno' stuff that Nabiki was giving me earlier."

"Actually, I wanted to ask you a bit more about what happened since Ranma arrived," said Yumi.

"Why don't you just ask Nabiki?" grumbled Akane.

"Because," replied Yumi. "I heard that Ranma did accept your challenge and only refused further challenges after you let your anger get the best of you. I wanted to know if that was the truth."

At the memory of her match with Ranma, Akane clenched her fist. The look on her face and the sound of her pencil snapping confirmed Ranma's story. (Note: Akane was holding her pencil under her index finger and over her middle finger and thumb.)

"Akane, you have to learn to control yourself," Yumi continued.

"I know," interrupted Akane in an irritated voice. "But just thinking of that idiot, of what he's going to do to my life, of all the rumors,... It makes me so..."

"The more I look at you two, the more you have in common." interrupted Yumi.

At this, Akane looked at her disbelievingly. "You must be joking!"

Yumi continued. "Both of you are martial artists, neither of you want to be engaged, you are both wasting your time trying to drive each other away, and both of you are doing a pretty good job of wrecking your fathers' stupid plan." Yumi paused for a moment and then continued. "Do you really think that Ranma would still be here if he had a choice?"

"He's still an idiot," replied Akane.

"With Genma Saotome for a father, I'm amazed he's even alive," muttered Yumi.

"You saw what happened at dinner," she continued. "That's the least of Ranma's problems. I've met his father before and having that idiot for a father is a lot worse than having you for a fiancee... no matter how hard you try." After a brief pause, she continued. "Anyway, I'd better let you get that homework done." At that, Yumi left Akane to think about what she'd just learned.
