Tenchi had yet to be born. Hence the cave was still sealed. And one Yosho, crown prince of the planet in need of an Emperor wasn’t going to be drug off to be crowned Emperor. Yosho was thought to be the last one with the Royal Blood that was also male (It was a male dominated society after all) and without Yosho it would be difficult to come up with a new Emperor.
If it wasn’t for another Juraian on Earth, Nodoka, sister to Yosho. She had, apparently gone to Earth to bring her brother back to Jurai, but had so far been unsuccessful.
Nodoka couldn’t come back to rule Jurai, however she had given birth to an heir for the throne, one Ranma.
Ranma in turn could be the new ruler of Jurai, once the ceremonies were over. Then once the assassin was found he could choose his first wife. In fact Nodoka, once she found, had not only agreed to lead them to Ranma but insisted on being the one to choose a half dozen young noble women to be Ranma’s potential wife. Each where picked both by their beauty and variety. It wouldn’t do for the first Empress to be at odds with Ranma, now would it?
At the current point and time however he was asleep in the Tree Ships massive bedroom, put asleep for the time being by Nodoka’s request so she could both get the information on what happened, relay information on Ranma, and think about what to tell the next Emperor of Jurai...
