"Neat!" said Ranma. It might not have been martial arts but it was the closest thing he'd ever seen to a giant robot.
Neat!
Ranma stopped. That wasn't quite an echo. "Hello?"
Hello? Neat!
Lights began to come up, though dimly, within the vast hangar that was crowded nearly full of futuristic tank.
"Is someone there?" tried Ranma.
Is someone there? Hello? Neat!
A console of blinking lights were going very quickly off to his right, and naturally Ranma went to that to see what it was doing. "Some kinda computer?"
Some kinda computer?
Ranma looked over the weird console. He wasn't sure at all what he was looking at.
Someone there. Hello. Is kinda computer.
Ranma blinked and scratched his head. "Sorry. I don't know none of this technology stuff. Do you speak Japanese?"
Japanese no hello is kinda someone.
"Maybe English? If I can remember my schoolin'," said Ranma. "(How are you? I am Mister Smith.)"
(Match in ancient language database. Colloquial English. Hello. My name is Bolo, Mister Smith.)
"Good thing that genie transported my backpack, I got my schoolbooks in there." Ranma started digging through his pack and then paging through his English workbook. "(My name is Ranma Saotome. I no speak good English.)"
(Do you see the dome currently blinking a nice blue color? Please hold your book up to that and show it one page at a time.)
Ranma wondered why he was doing this, other than he didn't have a lot else to do. Fortunately he only had to do it for three chapters.
(Please pronounce the symbols you see on the screen.)
Ranma glanced as the screen lit up and realized that was his handwriting. "Ra. Nu. Ma. Sa."
This went on briefly too.
Language deciphered. Hello Mister Saotome. I am Bolo.
"You taught yourself Japanese in a half hour?" Ranma asked. "Man I wish I could do that."
I have determined that you are not one of the enemy, Mister Saotome. Therefore, I would really like you to do me a favor.
"Maybe," said Ranma. "I ain't got a lotta supplies and there's those robot thingies up top."
I believe we could help each other in that regard, Mister Saotome. If I show you what is required, do you think you can finish making a few connections?
"Uhm, I suppose," said Ranma.
