The command center of NERV was in chaos. People were running left and right giving status reports on the new Angel constantly, trying to find out exactly what it was doing, why, and how to stop it.
One person who was particularly not liking the situation was a one Misato Katsuragi, who's eye brow was twitching so much in irritation that some thought it would jump off her head and start dancing. Her reason for her irritation could be viewed on the enormous holographic image before her. During the launch Aoba, one of the main technicians on bridge, had forgotten to set the latches on Unit 01's elevator.
Thusly Unit 01 had been propelled into the air and right into the Angel, which the now could see looked like it was made up of multiple sets of giant glowing wings. The Angel, whom they had now identified as Arael, seemed to be infecting the mind of Shinji Ikari, Unit 01's pilot, and quite possibly the best pilot they had.
Based on their view of the entry plug, which showed Shinji's hand was twitching like mad, something that only happened when the young Ikari was either in pain, or in a high stress situation.
Misato gritted her teeth, grinding them against one another very slowly, trying to get anything to distract her from the current situation. The worst part about this was that the Angel basically had Shinji held hostage, and there was nothing she or any one else could do right now to help him. Misato's anger flared in the thought of what that terrible creature was doing to HER Shinji.
Over the course of time that the young boy had lived with her, she had slowly grown attached to him. The young mans timid nature, which reminded many of a skittish rabbit, slowly worked its way around her heart, making her feel more like a mother or a big sister to the boy.
So when she had learned that it was Aoba who had messed up, the techie had thusly received the beat down of a life time.
Turning her attention from the main view screen Misato looked to one of the lesser images lining the sides of the image. Turning to the image that showed the inside of Unit 00 entry plug, Misato then spoke to its respective pilot. "Rei, any progress in finding a way to destroy the Angel?"
The sometimes considered emotionless pilot turned to the image of the lavender haired women on her holo-screen. "Not as of yet Major. Although it has a relatively weak AT-field, all forms of ballistic weaponry available do not have the strength to pierce the field, nor the range to hit it. Our proton cannon could do it, however its beam is so large that if we were to miss the Angel, we would likely hit Ikari."
Had the situation not been as bad as it was, then Misato would have gaped at Rei for saying so much in one sitting. Turning from Rei, Misato addressed the pilot of Unit 02. "Any thing on your side Asuka?"
Asuka grumbled for around the umpteenth time about 'stupid baka's ruining what should have been an easy kill.' She had been trying to find any vector point she could hit the Angel with her proton cannon without killing or hurting Shinji. She had almost considered taking the shot she found that which would kill the Angel, but also hit Shinji in a certain area that is known as a man’s greatest weakness.
"Nothing Misato, can't get clear shot without hitting the baka." Misato chose to ignore Asuka's comment. She was at her wits end, she had nothing left, no surprise plans, no grand rescue idea, nothing. But that was when she felt a tap on her shoulder. "Excuse me Major, I think I have an idea." Turning around she looked to Maya Ibuki, one of the other main command techs.
Feeling that at this moment she had nothing left she decided to listen to Maya's idea. What is Mayas plan is it:
