The ice upon the antarctic glacier exploded.
The Great Ice had struck him down in the midst of combat with the forefront of a monsterous host. He knew it was suicidal, but he had thought to delay the beasts while the Senshi stopped thier master... and despite not feeling Usagi fall he knew he had lost with the wave of power imprisoned he and his foes.
Now he lived again, with the form instead of merely the seeming of Prince Endymon's armour replacing the tuxedo Mamoru normally manifested and power unlike he had ever felt before coursing through his frame. The huge creatures resembling polar bear/warthog/armadillo crosses on all manner of steroids outnumbered him five to one, individually outmassed him ten to one, were all but invulnerable, and nearly matched Tuxedo Kamen's speed. He had managed to lead one away from the senshi when he found himself surrounded and fighting a loosing battle.
They had been unleashed as well, and from the sound of it were quite ready to resume combat.
Endymion hefted his blade and obliged them.
The three beasts were dead in as many seconds.
Unfortunately three-hundred more were coming... and he was the only creature bigger than a rabbit on the entire mountain.

Mamoru was tiring. The bolt of power he unleashed had lessened the odds but took far more of his strength than he liked. More importantly he had not realized the powers of regeneration these beasts had, it was only after fully half of those he counted as dead rose again did it become clear that he had to fight his way free....
Then the world exploded into fire.
He staggered for a second, then stared in shock at the ash blowing across the glacier. Nearly 200 of those creatures incinerated in less than a second... and he was unscathed.
"Rei?" he whispered as the fatigue made itself known.
Then an angel bowled him over.
"MAMOCHAN!!!" Usa... no, Serenity cried in delight as she hugged him, "I was so worried that you would be hurt but I couldn't leave Tokyo without making sure everyone was alright the Ice Emperor's palace tore half the Kanto Plain to pieces and I almost burned out the Ginzuishou stopping him so I couldn't make everything back to normal but we still rescued almost everyone since Hotaru tapped all of us to heal at range....
"You know what?" Uranus noted as she and the other senshi hovered over the glacier, "I always thought Odango would be... different... when she became the Neo-Queen"
"... reversion under stress perhaps?" Mercury muttered under her breath.
"Can't say I'm _that_ disappointed though," Jupiter said, "but am I the only one who thinks Mamoru looks different... cuter as Endymion?"
"Say one word about your Sempai Makoto and you get the next fireball." grumbled Mars.
"Well... I have to say that Endymion's a _lot_ better looking."
