Nabiki, smirking at the woman's attire, said "That's my little sister Akane, and yes, she's usually like that."
Soun was less polite, deploying the Deamon Head Attack and roaring at Misato "HOW DARE YOU HURT MY LITTLE GIRL" then at Ranma "HOW DARE YOU LET HER HURT YOUR FIANCEE? AND WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BRINGING THIS TRAMP HERE?"
They both cowered away from the horrible apparition, then when Soun relented tried to stammer out an answer. After a lot of false starts and stammering, Ranma swallowed hard, "Misato, I hate ta ask ya this, but can ya show 'em where you came from? Just my pop an' Mister Tendo?"
Misato shuddered, biting her lip, "Are you sure? I mean, it's not something I like to think about... "
He took in the look on Misato's face, and sighed. "Nah, yah don't gotta show 'em. Can yah bring yourself to tell them?"
She nodded, "I can handle that." And she started to talk, in a low, haunted voice. "In a 2015 that I hope never happens, a man named Gendo Ikari will engineer an event called Third Impact. Meant to be the salvation of mankind, his warped desires and those of the Old Men behind him will twist it into humanity's damnation; our bodies will be dissolved into the primordial soup from which life first came, and our souls will be ripped from our bodies and forced together, driving the human race mad. Shinji Ikari will manage to reconstitute himself, and his girlfriend Asuka will manage to sidestep the merger, but as far as I know, nobody else does. It's just a sea of LCL and an eternity of madness for the rest of the human race. Gendo Ikari dies, and the Old Men miss their chance to become gods." She paused to steady herself, "I was part of that sea, part of the madness, but someone or somethig took pity on me, pulled me out and changed me. Now, I have a second chance, a chance to redeem my failure. Maybe even prevent Third Impact's twisting. It was partly my fault; I didn't give Shinji the help he neeeded, and Instrumentality was lead with nobody to guide it. Ranma's my chance, aiding and supporting him." She looked around, "You probably don't believe a word of it. After all, there's no such thing as magic, is there?" But as she looked around, the expressions weren't skeptical at all, other than Nabiki's, somewhat. Watching Misato come out of that tattoo had been pretty convincing, especially with all the rest they'd been through.
"That's... quite a story, young lady," Soun said. "So how do you plan to aid Ranma?" He still wasn't convinced she was on the level, but for now, maybe it would be better to humour her.
She sighed, "I don't know, not really. I didn't do a very good job with Shinji, but I'll do the best I can."
