Lamp Of Mihoshi: Half-Man, Half-Dragon But Still 100% Ranma [Episode 83756]

by Jamil Nate

Ranma Saotome had never known who his father was. His mother had only told him that she had been young and foolish once : He was the result of a one-night stand with a oh-so-manly gaijin who had disappeared without a word afterwards.

Her family had tried to find a way to cover the dishonor but even that disreputable ronin named Genma had drawn the line and refused to be the stepfather of a bastard. Nodoka had recently heard that he had found another woman shortly thereafter and had now a son named Hiro of Ranma's age.

So Ranma had been raised by a single mother with the distant help of his maternal grandparents. The two of them had difficulties to make the ends meet more often than not. Ranma had grown up with school, small jobs and the occasional petty larceny (when he could get away with it without his mother finding out).

Ranma's gaijin heritage was obvious with his build, face and blue eyes and suffered the usual prejudice attached to 'Ai no Ko'. Nobody was foolish enough to insult him to his face though...

Ranma had always been stronger, tougher and faster than anyone. He had trained in the martial arts and gotten street fighting experience but it didn't completely explain his quasi-supernatural capabilities. Since Ranma lived in Nerima, he had seen weird things here and there during his life. The most likely possibility in his opinion was that his father hadn't been as human as he appeared... Or maybe he was some kind of mutant, who knew?

Ranma was still going to Furinkan High School. Put simply, it was the only school in the Nerima district who was still willing to take him in. Ranma Saotome was a well-known delinquent with a heavy record of fights, non-attendance, violations of school rules and other niceties. For the most part, he was left alone. The only teacher who managed to get something out of him was Hinako Ninomiya and only because of her ki-draining attack.

Of course, Nabiki was ignorant of all these facts since she mentally was still stuck in the 'old' reality. Should she try to use her usual tactics on the 'new and improved' Ranma, she would be in for a rude awakening (Even Akane avoided him).

So, who was Ranma's true father? Thanks to Mihoshi and despite the complete impossibility of cross-breeding between dragons and humans, Ranma Saotome was the only son of...

"AHCHOO!!!" Somewhere on the planet, someone sneezed quite loudly.

"Oh dear, Sire, are you all right!?!" A perky female voice asked, "You haven't caught a nasty no-good human illness, have you?"

*Snort!* "Preposterous! Of course not! Now, where were we? Ah, yes! Go on, Thirty-Eight..."

Another female voice rose, this one more mature and suave "Yes, Sire... The map we have stolen seems genuine. Here is where we'll find the Temple"

"Excellent! Soon that djinn will belong to me!"

... Fauntleroy the questing dragon?
