Of course, she didn't have a clue that the other woman was suffering from similar problems and was pretty much doing the same thing that she was.
But the young scientist's attention was yanked from her superior's by the sound of the door to the examination room opening.
And as she saw the young man stepping through that doorway, her eyes widened and she stared at the changes that a photograph could not show.
Rather than the sweet, if sullen, boy that she had remembered, he was taller than even her. He had a lean body that moved with an ease that was new to her, and that spoke of a fitness that was definately appealing. On his form was clothing that seemed both casual and classy at the same time. The hint of handsomeness that had been present before was now in full presence.
In other words, he was now a full on hunk, and somebody that she wouldn't mind spending some time with at all.
As the younger woman blushed, Misato practically leapt from her seat and walked over to him. "Finally! I was starting to get really bored there!"
That shocked Maya out of her daze and she frowned at the other woman. "Excuse me?"
"Err... I didn't mean to sound like that, but I was waiting for him for almost an hour and a half before you came! And you really should get something to read in this waiting room of yours, Ritsuko."
The faux blonde smirked at her friend. "What for? Did you suddenly take up the habit?"
"Why you..."
"Is something wrong Major?"
"Nothing that I have the time to argue about right now," the lavander haired woman replied.
"You don't?"
"Nope. Shinji and I have a date!"
Both of the other women stared at her and Shinji gaped open mouthed at her.
Her friend raised a brow at her. "Pardon me?"
"Ahh... What I mean is that we're supposed to go out to lunch, and if we don't hurry, it'll be dinner. You know, I took him shopping, and then I'm supposed to feed him?"
"Ahhh... I understand."
"Good," Misato told her, and looped her arm around one of Shinji's. "Then we'll be going, right Shinji?"
"Ummm... Sure..," he told her.
"Okay? See you both later," the major told the other women, and pulled her lunch date along with her as she left.
Leaving Ritsuko and Maya staring after them.
Lunch with Misato was usually a pretty predictable fare, especially if she was paying for them to go out. Ramen stands, fast food resturants, pizza places and the occassional cart were her usual places to take someone to eat. It was never really fancy, and usually was not much of a true meal.
This time was a different story.
Instead of sitting on a seat that was lined in vinyl, he was perched on a real chair. The table was made of wood, and the resturant served actually food. There was even a menu and he got to chose a meal rather than pick one that was predesigned.
All in all, it was pretty nice, and he was finding it something nice to enjoy.
Which the major was doing as well. She'd let him help her take her coat off, sat in her chair after he'd pulled it out for her, and even if she was paying, he felt almost in charge. Though he did feel a little... off balance as he saw that he'd worn a blouse allowed a nice view of her cleaveage, and her long jean clad legs had a habit of rubbing against him. She seemed perfectly at ease doing so, and if he had to admit it, he didn't have any problem with it that was about him. And to be perfectly honest, it felt... good.
"Are you having a nice time?" Misato asked him.
He gave her a slight smile and nodded. "Yeah, I am."
"I'm glad," she told him, and covered one of his hands with hers.
Somehow he both managed to admire the beauty of her eyes and the softness of her skin while:
