’Oh, hi Kodachi?’ the same girl asked herself. ‘Oh, hi Kodachi?’ She blinked. ‘Oh, hi Kodachi?’ The Red-haired harridan was supposed to yell, scream and shout at her. She definitely wasn’t supposed to deliver a greeting in a flat voice.
“Ohohohohohoho, you’ve given up on my dear Ranma-sama! Ohohoho-“ her voice caused the slithering girl to wince before said Ranma spoke, well, yelled.
“He died! Ok?! The nutjob cheerleader after yer nutjob brother decided to use a nutjob way to make sure that those two nutjobs could be together!” Ranma broke down in tears, but she didn’t receive any help from the other two girls near her, both had been too stunned to react. Nabiki was the first to come around, lowering her torso so she could hug the dark-skinned girl and whisper meaningless words. Kodachi got a faraway look in her eyes before focusing on the scene in front of her again.
‘Brother told me about the cheerleader tramp. He said she was not good enough.’ Thinking about what she had done herself in order to try and capture her Ranma-sama’s heart it didn’t seem too unlikely that another girl had found her own way of gaining her loved one’s notice.
‘I can make poisons that seem magical. My brother had that magical wishing sword of his, and the possessed katana. They didn’t want this.’
“I ... am sorry; I behaved unseemly out of ignorance. How may this member of the Kuno house seek forgiveness, Miss...?” Kodachi’s behaviour was not only unusual, it seemed almost sane. In many ways she was the opposite of Nodoka.
“S’okay, Kodachi,” sniffled Ranma, “it ain’t yer fault. Can ya, just, be a friend now, ‘stead of attackin’ me all the time?” Ranma found the strength to lift her head and look at the gymnast, and her tear-filled eyes.
“I would love to,” the black-haired girl said, and sat down beside the other two. “On one condition, what do I call you?” Kodachi’s question triggered more tears from Ranma, but she held herself together. The two transformed girls looked each other in the eyes, before the red-haired one responded.
“Ranko. Ranko Saotome.” Kodachi nodded and gathered up the smaller girl in a hug of her own, letting Nabiki stretch herself somewhat.
