Ranma was 18 years old and it had been little more than a year since he had defeated Saffron in battle. Ranma had looked at the calender and knew what this day was.
The one year anniversary of the failed wedding which everyone (including his mom, Kasumi, and Akane) blamed him for.
Regardless of the fact that it was Nabiki that mailed out the invitations. Regardless of the fact that it was Soun who stole Ranma's cure from him for his service of defending Jusenkyo and blackmailed him with it to marry his psychobitch daughter, Akane.
Then to top it off every male with a Jusenkyo curse (Pops, Mousse, and Ryouga) fought over his cure until Happosai drank it all.
A year has passed since the bombed out wedding and Ranma was treated by almost everyone as an outcast. Sure they wanted Ranma to fight a demon or some creature like that but once it was finished it was back to the whole district of Nerima hating him and wishing he was dead.
The girls who he absolutely detested (Akane, Ukyo, Shampoo, and Kodachi) were still after him. Ukyo, Shampoo, and Kodachi wanted him more than ever and chased him harder than ever while Akane wanted him dead and accused him of being a pervert.
The rivals (Kuno, Ryouga, and Mousse) wanted him dead and tried to more than ever to kill him. They almost were successful when Akane malleted him from picking on them. Ranma was lucky that he had trained harder than ever and had hidden most of his strength away.
Ranma's parents, Soun Tendo, and Akane's sisters were blaming everything on him. He despised his and Akane's families with each passing day. How everyone blamed him for every new fiancee that came when it was Genma's fault made him burn with anger.
The two three hundred old folks were still making his life a living hell. Cologne still wanted Ranma to marry her great-granddaughter and Happosai still did his panty raids and got Ranma into trouble for it.
About the only two people who treated Ranma with any respect or kindness was Tofu and Hinako. Tofu saw the Tendos behavior to Ranma and was disgusted by it. Hinako once tried the stick approach with Ranma but when that had not worked she used the carrot approach. Ranma's grades had skyrocketed when Hinako told him that Akane would be the one everyone came to learn martial arts from because she had a degree from college. Ranma asked Hinako to keep everyone in the dark so noone would know about his grades till they graduate high school. Hinako and Tofu were his only friends in Nerima.
With the entire Nerima district hating his guts and hoping he would die he started having strange dreams about places and people he didn't know. Ranma wondered about the people and places he saw in his dreams.
Little did Ranma know that his life was going to be turned upside down very soon again.
