"Aaaaaannnd... Welcome back to Match-Ups 101! With your gracious host, the goddess of the Past, Urd!" The goddess smiled and posed, flaunting herself "That's me!"
Applause, catcalls and whistles erupt from the audience. Urd basks in the adoration of the masses, further encouraging them by a few sexy postures.
"Thank you! Thank you all! You're the best audience I've ever had!" Urd threw kisses at the public (provoking a few fainting spells) then straightened, returning to a more normal pose.
"Our viewers have asked a few excellent questions by phone. I will answer them, hoping it'll make you appreciate our program even more!" Cheers come from the audience "If you, yourself at home, have a question for us, call this number which is now appearing at the bottom of the screen" Urd pauses for a little while, allowing the viewers to take notes.
"First question! Long-time Evangelion fans are wondering when all of this is happening!" Urd smirks "The 'action', hehehehe, takes place between the eleventh and twelth angel. It's been grossly three weeks after Iruel's attack on the MAGI. Leliel issdue in a few days but nothing is certain"
"Why do I say that? Well, that's because of SEELE's decision to send Maymi Yamagishi to Tokyo-3" A portrait of the girl in question appears on the giant screen behind Urd. We see a young girl, approximately fourteen to fifteen years old, dressed in a japanese school uniform. She has long blue-black hair reaching the middle of her back and chest-level bangs. Behind her glasses, we see that her eyes are brown. She also has a little mole right under the left side of her mouth.
And for the Read or Die OAV series fans, she could easily pass as a young Yomiko Readman.
Urd takes position besides the screen "Many of you asked: 'Who is this Mayumi Yamagishi girl? I've never seen her once in Evangelion!'. The answer is simple: She isn't in the TV series or even the movies so you can stop searching. Rather than watch it all over again, watch our program instead! Explanations will come..."
"Mayumi Yamagishi is an original character made for the Sega Saturn game 'Evangelion: Second Impression'. Like in Girlfriend of Steel, it is a side story of EVA where once again, Shinji Ikari falls in love with the new girl in town, namely Mayumi" The audience makes "Aaawwww..." noises, Urd nods.
"Mayumi is an avid reader. She and Shinji saw each other at the Library more than anywhere else. Their similar temperaments drew them to each other. Saving her from an angel attack in Unit 01 helped too..." Urd winks.
"Our two lovebirds grew closer but were cruelly split apart when it was revealed that Mayumi was the core of the angel of Illusion. Even when the player manages to get the good ending where Mayumi survives, she departs from Tokyo-3, leaving poor Shinji alone"
"In this particular timeline, the angel of illusion exists and Mayumi is its core. It is the result of a SEELE experiment where they cloned a completely new angel from the samples of all the ones who already attacked Tokyo-3. In order to control it, they implanted the core into Mayumi. The only problem is that her so-called control over the angel is precarious at best, slowly eroding as we speak"
"What SEELE hadn't predicted however is that once Mayumi is in town, the 'official' angel attacks will stop. They only come one at a time after all. Leliel will sense that one of its brethrens is already in place and will wait until it is killed or succeeds in reaching Terminal Dogma"
Urd's usual smile disappears to make way for a sad expression on the goddess' face "NERV and the children will have their hands full with the angel of illusion (who shall remain nameless because it isn't in the Dead Sea scrolls to begin with). Capable of appearing and disappearing at will as well as generating illusions (that's why he's the angel of illusion, folks), it is also pretty much invulnerable, unless you attack its core, Mayumi Yamagishi. Ouch..."
Urd's smile returns "Enough angst and despair! I'm sure Shinji, enhanced by yours truly, will find a way to resolve the situation. Now, we return to the EVA world where..."
