Intellectually, prince Ran of the Moon Kingdom knew that Luna and Artemis, the moon cat advisors of the Serenity line, were not a threat to him. The part of him that was Ranma Saotome however was screaming in terror and wanted to run away as fast as possible. For the moment, the moon prince stayed coherent thanks to an old martian psychic technique originally devised to ignore one's fears when facing certain death.
His control was taxed and slipping though. Artemis was overjoyed to see his old buddy Ran again and was babbling at him about all those things they could do in modern Japan together. Luna was glad too... At last a love interest for the senshi that was 100% politically sure. Even if he was opposed to reestablish the Moon Kingdom, He could only follow Usagi's lead when she would become an adult (She also remembered his rebellious nature).
Usagi and Setsuna wondered why Ran was so tense. Haruka and Michiru were talking in whispers, occasionally throwing glances at Ran. The Inner Senshis were lost in some private fantasies if their blushing and muttering were any indications. Little Hotaru was blissfully sleeping.
When Artemis jumped on Ran's shoulder to talk more privately, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Ran screamed "C... c... c... CAAATT !!!" and took off at ludicrous speeds. Poor Artemis was thrown by the shockwave of his abrupt departure and fell on Luna.
The girls all sweatdropped "What the hell just happened ?" They asked in unison.
"He looked afraid of Artemis, as if it was some kind of monster" Leave it to Ami to make the right assumptions.
Luna was puzzled "But why ? Why would he fear us so ? He never did back in the Silver Millenium"
Setsuna sighed "It must be something from his human life before his awakening. I'll look into it" Scratch Aspirin, Tylenol sounded good right now. Of course, due to the rewriting of History she provoked, she forgot it was HER fault in the first place.
