Foot steps echoed across the enclosed cavern as Ryoga walked along staring at everything around him. He was depressed like normal, but in this case he was starting to feel a little different. He had no clue where he was, but he knew it was someplace that hadn't been visited by anyone in a very, very long time.
He looked around at the large things on either side of him and could only gape in awe. They were huge, hundreds of feet long, almost forty wide, and almost sixty feet hight without including the poles and other bits that rose even higher. They were ships, he knew that, but unlike anything he had ever seen before. This place was giving him the creeps, he didn't dare get to close to the ships either. They were tied to the walkway he was on, but they weren't floating in water or even sitting in a berth. No, they were floating there like a balloon. Gently bobbing up and down in the air for no apparent reason.
Even stranger was that he could see them perfectly and yet there was no lighing around him and no amount of searching had produced any. He had made the mistake of looking over the edge of the walkway he was on when he first arrived and hadn't been able to see the floor below the ships. It had been nothing but pure blackness for as far as he could see.
"Where the hell am I now?!" He screamed.
"Someplace you shouldn't be, kid." Said a voice from behind him.
Ryoga jumped in shock and spun around, pulling his umbrella and going into a combat stance. He was prepared for anything and planned to pound it into the floor for scaring him like this, but what he saw caused him to freeze in shock and gape like a fish. It wasn't human, instead it appearned to be some kind of machine. Like the ships it floated a few inches above the floor, its body was like a giant round ball with a large eye right in the center, a large mouth, and a dozen or so eye stalks sticking out of the top of its head.
It floated closer to him and circled around him slowly, as if sizing him up as a good meal. Ryoga started to sweat and tried to get his body to work, he had to get out of there. The thing finished it's circle after a few seconds and looked him in the eye and raised it's single eyebrow.
"This place is offlimits, kid, you shouldn't be here." It said again.
"Wh...what are you?"
I'm the caretaker of this place. Now get out of here before I have to kick you out."
