Ryoga could hardly contain his excitement.

Which would it be? Maybe Vulvapix. Ryoga quickly shook his head at the thought of that one. Vulvapix's were difficult to deal with and even harder to Tame. At least, that's what he'd heard. In any case, they were about to find out. He held the ball at arm's length and activated it. Only nothing happened. It simply popped open and sat in the palm of his hand.
Empty.
The eager look of anticipation switched to one of confusion, then rage. Hiroko blinked. "I don't get it."
"Oh I get alright." Ryoga growled between clenched teeth. Throwing the ball on the ground, he made a fist at the door and shouted. "You snooze, you lose!" Is that it?! Well, ha, ha, I ain't laughing! You can keep your stupid Pokeball! I'll just go and get my own Pokegirl!" With that Ryoga kicked the ball away. It ricocheted off the door, bounced down the stairs, and rolled til it stopped at Hiroko's feet.
She stared at it for a moment before picking it up. Just as she'd been handing it back, she accidently depressed the switch and activated it. She managed a barely audible "Huh?" before her entire body was engulfed in light and sucked inside. The ball hinged shut in mid air and, with no one to hold it, fell to the ground. At least, it would have if Ryoga hadn't caught it.
The ball rattled around for a bit then settled in the palm of his hand. The beacon light flashed, signaling a successful capture.
"Well, I believe that's another first." he heard suddenly. Ryoga glared toward the door where he found the Professor rubbing his chin thoughtfully. His other arm tucked behind his back. "First he shows up with a Pokegirl," he observed, "and then the Pokegirl captures herself."
"I'm right here ya know!" Ryoga cried. But the professor didn't seem to notice. "I wonder what'll be next?" The answer came soon enough for both of them.
Ryoga activated the ball again, releasing Hiroko. But neither he or the Professor was prepared for her grand re-entrance. She rematerialized in a sitting position with her legs folded and her hands in her lap.... while balanced on the end of her tail! She slowly rocked side to side like a pendulum then suddenly righted herself and went stock still! The Professer couldn't believe his eyes, he'd never seen anything like it.
Neither had Ryoga.
Hiroko didn't mind a bit. In fact, she seemed to enjoy it. Smiling broadly she said, "That was fun!" then sprang off her tail and plucked the ball from Ryoga's hands. She held the ball before her face and screamed, "Here I gooooo!" Before either of them could stop her, she pressed the switch. The girl had even smiled and waved as she was pulled back inside.
The Professor's face went completely blank.
Ryoga was just wondering what he'd gotten himself into. But, while he may not have known that, he at least knew this much : it was going to be interesting.
Hiroko would make sure of that.
