A Cat's Yarn - Golden Destinies: “Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Make Me a Match! Find Me a Find! Catch Me a Catch!” [Episode 87936]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

“BRAAAAP!” was Bast’s non-too-graceful belch as she dropped the empty 12-ounce bottle of Yoshinol on the small coffee table between her sofa, and the HDTV. Gathered all around the emotional cat-goddess were pictures of various women form the GD-verse. Many women who could possibly tend to the lonely heart of one Ranma Saotome.

Hey, if things continued the way they were, Bast knew it wouldn’t be too bad. However, it was in her best interest to cause as little emotional grief as possible. So maybe, just maybe, she had to get her ass up to decide upon some possible choices for who could possibly garner the attention of the pigtailed smilodon.

Picking up the first file and opening it to see the bright smile of a beautiful red-haired, green-eyed woman, the first choice was simple. One Armsmaster Julia Brigand-(possibly ex-)Diggers. The reasons were already well known to Bast. The two were hitting it off far TOO well, and Julia was already a married woman for Father’s sake! If she didn’t know better, she would have sworn her sister Sehkmet had a hand, er, paw in this!

Still, Bast had to admit to herself with a guilty conscience that it wasn’t as bad as she’d make it out to be if it did happen. She somehow knew those two could live happily if they did. She just didn’t want to cause little Gina or poor Blondie, er, Theo any emotional grief, even if Theo would get a nice, hot werepanther wife later on, and Gina got some rather hot lesbian sex with Britanny, (which Bastet knew if Ranma found out, he’d have a fit... Or rather, Julia would. Ranma would probably pass out.)

The only way to prevent such an occurrence was, logically... Let Ranma take the hit from the Lich King. Looking deeply into this, Baste could result in three possible results from such an occurrence.

The first off is the one that made Bastet REALLY skittish about the idea of Ranma taking the hit. The very possibility that he would be sent back to his dimension of origin. And considering how badly Father was miffed at her... A no-go on bringing him back was most likely the outcome if she even asked father this time.

Then again... Maybe she could try to sucker another goddess or god into doing such as a favor for her. Sehkmet LOVED werecheetahs, and that ol’ fart of an Elder Chaos God was known to like GD.

Ah well. If he took the hit and DIDN’T get sent back... Then two other outcomes were likely.

The second possibility was Ranma suffering the effects of something similar to the Strength-sapping Moxibustion Technique that Happosai used on him a while ago. Ranma would have to start from the ground up retraining Britanny. He’d have to depend on the Diggers to protect Britanny for a couple of years, while he made himself stronger.

The third, and while Bastet knew Ranma wouldn’t like this, it WOULD be the best outcome... Ranma’s own curse would be activated. Nope, being turned into a Sabretooth weretiger didn’t dispel the Jusenkyo Curse. It just inactivated it. Being hit by the second curse would just jump-start the original curse; meaning Ranma would become a water-magnet once more, AND change gender with different temperatures of water. “So Britanny would have a mommy AND a daddy all in one.”

Bastet smirked as a stray thought hit her. She wondered if M would have any teeth left once he suggested Ranma herself try giving birth, as to heighten the chances of her children being weresmilodons.

Ah well, if Ranma DID make it past the ‘Birth of the Lich King’ incident without too much of a problem, that meant that Ranma and Julia would be able to remain just ‘friends’. (However, just ‘good friends’ or ‘friends with benefits’, Bast couldn’t tell at this point). And that would free Ranma up for some other nice women later on in life.

Blinking her eyes, Bastet held up Xane’s file. She wasn’t a bad person really, but... There was no way the poor girl would EVER be able to get a good hold in Ranma’s heart. Maybe after some contact they could be friends, but otherwise, Bast wasn’t going to get her hopes up. “Dumb Island of Feministsdontcarea.”

Tossing that folder aside, Bastet picked up the third folder. The first woman that could have a real chance at Ranma besides Julia. “Mrs. Amelia Carter.”

Bast chuckled. Amelia was just a simple, normal woman. Nothing special. She was the traditional homemaker, a kind-hearted woman, and just the sweetest person one could meet. She was like a more worldly Kasumi.

Ranma was bound to meet her a few years down the road, when Britanny would make friends with Amelia’s daughter, Danielle. The two girls were going to hit it off pretty well, as they did in the original universe. And Ranma would meet with Danielle’s parents more often than not.

Which of course, meant he’d become closer to her when Officer Joseph Carter, Amelia’s wife and Danielle’s father, would be killed in action. He’d help the grieving window move on with her life, and try to act as a good male role-model for Danielle. After all, this would be another family that was kind to him and Britanny. He’d see them as good friends and help out as best he could. Which very well might lead to more.

And, as Bastet could see, if Ranma DID marry Amelia, this would change more things. Danielle would never move away since Amelia wouldn’t take that job offer in New York to help her forget all that had been going on; and the partnership of the Pink Avenger and the Cheetah would last longer. Heck, Ranma might even train both girls harder once he found out both were junior superheroes.

Putting Mrs. Carter’s file down carefully, Bastet picked up another one. Jetta Silverbaine.

Yes, the Alpha of the Werewolf Clan’s life has been changed, and not so much in ways horrid. She could now live a more or less ‘normal’ life for a werewolf. However, this time the clan didn’t listen to her as much since she wasn’t as ‘vital’ to their species’ survival as before.

Bast knew that Jetta would eventually hear about the superhero ‘the Cheetah’ this time around, since she wasn’t stuck in Eden and have access to a frikin’ television! And once she found out, she’d head out to see if this ‘Cheetah’ was indeed a member of the werecheetah clan.

Shaking her head, Bast didn’t kid herself. She knew that the initial encounter of Ranma and Jetta would be rocky, but there was a chance of friendship... And possibly much, MUCH more.

Bast giggled at the thought of Pojo being the first Sabretooth Werewolf. And Alera would be no different. Quite unique children indeed.

But still, if Ranma held out past that point, Bast could see another woman possibly getting Ranma. The Rakshasa Genn.

It would be lust/hunger at first sight for Genn. Granted, Ranma wouldn’t want this sort of relationship, but like things had worked out with Séance, Genn would eventually grow to genuinely love Ranma.

Of course, this would leave Séance to genuinely go after Gina without second thought. He might even have a better chance at the girl this time.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Bast kicked back and popped open another bottle of Yoshinol with a claw. “Many, screwing with universes is such a pain in the ass.”
