It was a technological wonder, created in the aftermath of the greatest disaster that humanity had ever seen. Built upon the ruins of the old, it was created to be the defender of humanity against a force that would end the life of every man, woman and child on the planet. This was the place where humanity's greatest test would happen.

But even in such a place there were things that were completely mundane, such as a new morning. Families still woke up, parents went to work, and children went to school. Breakfasts would be eaten and showers taken.
