Bamf! went the air into the place that had been filled with Akane a moment ago.
Akane blinked as the surf swirled warmly around her socks and ankles, a gentle breeze and the sound of surf competing for her attention.
It was evening. There were surfers still plying the waves and -
WHAM! a surferboy and board slammed into the girl who he honestly hadn't seen there a moment ago. "(OH MY GOD! MEDIC!)"
Akane, half covered in wet sand, wondered if her life would ever make sense.
Four hours after exposure, the communicable stage set in as the disease settled into the mucous membranes - particularly along the throat. This stage lasted from four hours after exposure to a day after the disease had "passed."
Akane was still communicable as she was sent from the beach to an Urgent Care and passed by all sorts of people with a wide variety of complaints.
She was one of the best in her class at English, alas that was English as it was taught in Japan, and she was protesting that she didn't need help long before she was turned loose.
That still left her just off the beach in Hawaii, on the island of Maui. Fifty two minutes later she was outside, leaning against a statue of Kokoilemoku and wondering how she had gotten there. Had some passing kami given her a wish? Is that why she felt so tired?
And how was she going to get back?
After Akane's vanishing there had been a lot of yelling, a number of accusations, and a plethora of demands. Most of which had originated from Genma and Soun and been directed towards Ranma.
End result: Ranma sent off to rescue Akane. Ranma grumbling a lot, as he quite honestly had no idea what had happened to Akane or where she'd gone.
Reason and logic were qualities that rarely made an appearance in his life, however, so he simply chose a random direction and started off.
Oddly enough, the other person furthest along with the disease wasn't even supposed to get it. Carried by Akane and sneezed on repeatedly by her, Ryoga Hibiki was fairly miserable.
