The Journey to Red: "Would you go out with me?" and the Ninja Jato [Episode 89537]

by Matdeception

Lirith wasn't a bad place, Ranma decided after an hour of walking the streets. It was clean for the most part, and the people didn't seem all that bad of folk considering the welcoming he got in Ryden.

"Pfeh. Damn Pantha." He grumbled. He wasn't really upset anymore, but it still irked him. He thought he could have at least some respite from the whole fiancée mess, at least long enough to enjoy himself a bit more, but Pantha's ignorance ended that quickly.

Ranma blinked, a flash of metal catching his attention as he passed by the window of a local black smith. Peering in the window curiously, he spotted a pair of studded black leather gauntlets in display in the window. "Well HeeellllllllllllllOOOOO Beautiful!" he whispered. Awesome! Those were mythiril studs! Toughest metal on the planet!

Ranma hmmmed. Would Theo be upset with him if her splurged a little? Nahhhh. He bought Theo that new mage suit in Tuk, so he can't bitch if he decided to splurge a little. "Come to papa." he grinned, walking towards the entrance.

Pantha sighed when she heard some one knocking on the door. There was only one person she was expecting to visit her with dread, and that was Theo. Damn it, why didn't she turn away when she had the chance? Nooooooo! Had to stay and be a perverted little kitty didn't she?

"Come in Theo." she said, leaning up on the bed.

True enough, Theo opened the door and walked into the room. "Pantha? There's something we need to talk about."

Pantha shrugged. Best get it out of the way. "I'm sorry about peeping on you."

Theo blinked. "Eh.. right. Thats not what I want to talk about."

"What is it?" she asked, crossing her legs.

"It's about your little joke in Ryden, and Ranma's reaction."

Pantha grimaced. That little joke hadn't been well received by the guy. Heck, she was sure he cursed at her in several different tongues before calming down enough to shout in her face. "Look, I said I was sorry?" she snapped.

"Yes you did, that's not the point I'm here to talk to you, though." Theo sighed, leaning up against the wall and crossing his arms, "Has Ranma ever told you about his past?"

Pantha shook her head, "Except for Jusenkyo, nothing." and she had to pry that out of him. It wasn't uncommon for mages to change genders, but she was sure the spell required more concentration then splashing themselves with water.

"What I'm about to tell you does not go beyond these walls. Understand."

"Yeah, shoot Theo."

Theo coughed a bit, clearing his throat, "Shortly after his visit to Jusenkyo, Ranma and his father arrived at a hidden Amazon village in China, a country on Earth."

Pantha leaned back against the wall and simply listened.

"This Amazon village had many laws similar to Ryden. If a man outsider beats a female warrior, give the kiss of marriage and marry with out delay. The same goes in reverse. If a female outsider beats a female warrior, they are to give the kiss of death and kill with out delay."

Pantha hmmed, "It's kind of like Ryden's laws. Not that extreme, and I really think the whole marriage law is optional if both parties want it."

"Be that as it may, Pantha. On Earth, these Amazon's took their laws seriously. I guess it didn't help matters Ranma showed up at this village in his female form."

Pantha snorted, "Let me guess, Kiss of Death for beating up some girl?"

"In a nutshell yes." Theo nodded, "That Amazon girl tracked Ranma and attempted to kill him all the way through China, to his homeland of Japan. There she tried even more, until Ranma accidentally beat her in his male form."

"Kiss of Marriage?"

"Yep. There's more to this situation that I'm not at liberty to discuss. Suffice it to say the Amazon's aren't his only problem, but they were one of the big ones. Poisons, magic, hypnosis. They wouldn't stop at anything to get their man."

"What's so bad about that? I mean, trying to force him is wrong, but.."

Theo interrupted, "That's just it Pantha. From Ranma's perspective, they were trying to enslave him. Force him to live the life of a mere male."

"Okay, I guess that would upset some one." Pantha hesitantly acknowledged.

"Just do me a favor Pantha, please?"

"What?"

Theo pushed off from the wall, "Don't keep Ranma in the dark about any laws dealing with marriage. You really don't want him hating you."

"Heh.. kinda late, don't you think?" Pantha chuckled snidely.

"No. It takes more then one screw up to get Ranma to hate you." Theo didn't really know how many it took, but he was willing to guess Pantha still had a long way to go before Ranma decided to hate her.

"Thats nice to know." Pantha nodded, slightly relieved to hear Theo say that. She didn't want Ranma to hate her. He was a friend of sorts. She blinked when she saw Theo throw her a little smile, "Uh? Theo?"

"Pantha, are you doing something tonight?"

"No." Pantha blinked when Theo grinned widely.

"Want to go out on a date?" His voice was a little shaky as he said those words.

"Uh.." Pantha blushed slightly, once again thankful it was covered under her fur. "Sure."

"Awesome." Ranma grinned as he tested his new gauntlets by smacking them against the wall of a building. Not hard enough to break the structure, but enough to test the durability of his new toys.

"God, this is sooooo cool!' he chuckled again.

"Well, this certainly is convenient." A deep voice broke through his happy haze. He ignored it. There were people around, so chances are they weren't even talking to him anyway.

"Excuse me, are you Ranma Saotome?" That same damn voice said his name this time. Turning around, Ranma gave the man a quick examination. Tall, over a foot taller then he himself was, which isn't saying much since he's Japanese, even though he is taller then most of his brethren. The man had short red hair that framed a hard chiseled face. He was dressed in what appeared to be a ninja suit of some sort, blue fabric covering the majority of his body.

"Yeah, who're you?"

"Your executioner!" The man yelled as he brought a sword out of nowhere down on him in an overhead swing.

Oh, forgot to mention the man's BAS. (Big Ass Sword). It was long and thick, that was pretty much all Ranma got to see before he was forced to side step the swing, the man's attack left a crater in the ground where the sword hit.

"Pfft. Don't I at least deserve a name here?" Ranma rolled his eyes.

"Oh right, sorry. Rules of Etiquette and all that. Call me Jato." The man suddenly bowed, before coming back upright. "Well, shall we begin?"

"Sure!' Ranma chirruped
