"Huh?" Venus asked with a blink, "What do you mean?"
"It's very simple. You want to teach my son what to be able to do that, so do so."
"What? Right now?"
"Yes. There's no better time for it."
"I guess..."
That made the portly martial artist want to grin broadly, but he surpressed it in order not to tip off the strange girl. If she was some being who would be able to teach his son that special technique, then he would allow her to do so. He could just loose her once she was finished and get back onto track with the boy's training later. Ranma would just have to deal with the pain of the loss when the girl was left behind, because such things were a martial artist's lot in life.
"Umm..."
"Come on girl, let's get going. The boy doesn't have forever to train.
The oriad winced at the words and wondered how she was going to get out of this one. Her powers were not something that were just taught, but she knew that the fat man wouldn't like it, and that he might want to leave if she couldn't do what he wanted. But since she wasn't a real strategic thinker, she had to work fast.
And the best that she could come up with was, "Well, you see... it'll take some time."
"How long?" Genma asked.
"I... don't know."
"What?!"
"It's not like I can be exact... And you do want your son to be a great hero, who can beat all the bad guys right?"
"Yes..."
"Then I'll have to take the time to do it the way I'm supposed to," Venus said with a great deal of bravado, "Right?"
Ranma blinked as the nice girl he'd somehow awakened in the same bedroll with gave his father a bright smile while:
