All because of one scientist. What that person had done was to take the technology of the day and manage to leap frog it into the future. Virtually overnight, humanity went from being kept to a very small area of space to being able to travel to other worlds that did not circle their sun. Almost as if to keep up with the quantum leap in propulsion, other technologies advanced quickly, and a new era of science was born.
With all of this came an exodus from the planet that had given birth to the human race, as people began to live a dream that only a few had ever truely felt possible. Groups, some mixtures of cultures and others from a single one, left in search of places to live and create a new world. A massive amount of people eventually left the planet, some heading to nearby spots, while others tried to reach far away stars.
But it wasn't all glory and wonder in this time. No one knew all that was out there, and dangers still lurked, some natural, and others not. There were also pirates that would prey upon ships in transit and outlaws that would attack people on the new worlds. People still fought, and there were still those who thought more on greed than anything else.
This was the scene upon which destinies were played out, and heroes and villans fought. Some would go on adventures that would be the stuff of legends while others merely did things that only those who knew them would know about. There was room for them all, the wanderers and dreamers as well as the explorers and entrepreneurs.
