Meteor - Crystal Tokyo: Homecoming [Episode 90809]

by Aaron Nowack

There were many beings of power in the world, of all kinds and descriptions. Most were only slightly more powerful than the average human, just as much at the mercy of the meteor. However, there were still a few that had the power to change the course of events.

Many chose not to - evil or uncaring enough to either revel in the destruction or instead flee for safer worlds. Perhaps some tried and failed to stop the meteor. Others had only the power to partly protect some small area.

One group that certainly had the will and might very well have had the power to avert the disaster never had the chance to try, but maybe they would be able to mitigate the situation.

It had been front-page news in Tokyo, until the discovery on the oncoming meteor a few days later eclipsed it. A gas explosion at a high school in Juuban had resulted in almost a hundred confirmed deaths. What had not made the newspapers was the true cause of the incident - the first, probing attack of a terrible evil.

The Sailor Senshi had quickly managed to trace the attack back to its source on a distant world, and had gone their to ensure that there would be no further attacks. It had been a long and terrible battle, the hardest they had ever fought. At the end, though, they had emerged victorious, but at great cost. The young Sailor Saturn had fallen in battle, giving her life so Sailor Moon could strike the final blow.

Heartbroken, the eight survivors had immediately began the long journey home. Now they had arrived, to find a world unimaginably altered.

Sailor Mercury finished informing the others of what information she had been able to gather in the few minutes since their arrival, and for a long moment none of them could bring themselves to say anything.

It was Sailor Uranus who finally broke the silence. "We failed," she stated quietly, seeming to shrink back into herself. Sailor Neptune was by her side quickly, but she could find no words of comfort to speak.

"Was it," Sailor Jupiter began, then faltered slightly before continuing, "the enemy?" All eyes turned almost instantly to Sailor Pluto.

She slowly shook her head. "I do not know whether they were behind the meteor. I told you before we left, this is a period of great temporal chaos. I am almost as blind as you."

"Pluto." Sailor Moon's voice was sharp. "Did you know this was going to happen?"

Pluto shifted her staff from one hand to the other. "Not exactly. I know only that the chaos we are in has only two possible ends. The Great Ice and Crystal Tokyo, or our deaths and the eternal enslavement of the human race." She paused, hesitating slightly. "I knew that something had to happen to cause the Great Ice. I did not know what or when."

For another long moment, there was silence. This time it was Sailor mars who spoke first. "What now? We have to... we have to do something."

"What can we do?" Mercury asked. "The scale of this is... it's incredible. What can we do?"

"One thing," Pluto said. "We can put the survivors to sleep, for a thousand years. To sleep until the world is healed, and ready for them to wake once more."

"How?" was all Sailor Moon said in reply.

"There are several artifacts we will need," Pluto replied. "The closest should be in Nerima."
