Ranma and the Lone Wolf: Mother's Love [Episode 91090]

by Phoenix Knight Kayin

Just as Ranma got to her feet she heard a voice that sent chills down her spine. "Ranma?" The confused expression on Nodoka's face spoke volumes. Ranma turned to Terry and said, "Could you hold on for a moment Terry, I need to talk to my mother for a minute. OK?"

Ranma walked over to her mother and waved her over to a secluded part of the cafe. "Ranma why are you dressed like that? Why have you turned away from manliness? Have you abandoned your honor?"

Ranma looked at her mother for a second and told her, "No mother I have not abandoned my honor. I act to protect what little honor our family still has. Father's actions have already destroyed our family's honor with his multiple engagements and criminal behavior. He put in an impossible situation. The only choice I had to protect our honor was seppuku and yet I had done nothing deserving of such a fate. Should I really kill myself because of his lack of honor? Does my life mean so little to you? To him? Regardless of whether or not of your feelings I believe that my life means more than that.

I want to be happy and content with my life and this is the only way I can be happy and keep our family honor intact. As my mother I hope you will respect and understand my descision."

Nodoka closed her eyes and stood there for a minute and considered what she had been told. Finally opening her eyes she looked at Ranma and asked, "Is it really that bad?"

Ranma sadly looked at her mother and said, "No mother it's worse. Father keeps saying I have to marry Akane for honor, yet he has made engagement after engagement. He says that a martial artist must protect the innocent, yet he has ruined the lives of numerous innocent people because he was hungry and didn't want to work for it. He tells me to be nice to Akane, yet she abuses me and blames me for everything that goes wrong even when I have nothing to do with it. I have to support Akane all the time, yet she defends Ryuoga when he attacks me and says I'm responsible for his dishonorable behavior.

No one asked me if I wanted to be engaged to all these girls. I was never asked if I wanted to go on the training trip. Nobody really cares what I want or asks my opinion on things. I realized it was because I was nothing more than object to them, especially to father. This is the first real descision I have made in my life and am willing to accept the consequences of it."

Nodoka looked at her new daughter with pride and respect, as well as saddness as she realized how badly her husband had failed their child. Nodoka also felt shame as she realized she had failed to give her son the support he needed and desired. That Ranma had to go to such extremes actually spoke at how desperate she really was. Nodoka smiled at Ranma in pride at the courage of her decision had taken to make. Nodoka looked her daughter in the and said, "Ranma I give you my blessing in your new life as a woman. I'll give you all the help I can. Here's the spare keys to the house. Use them well, I'll take of your father and the Tendos. Goodbye dear."

Ranma smiled warmly at her mother and turned back to Terry. "Terry would you take me home now."
