"[What was your first clue?]" Nabiki put in irritably.
Ukyou stamped her feet, turning. "[Look, he's not an idiot, you know.]"
Nabiki rolled her eyes. "[He does a good imitation of one, then. Now, if you could get him to quit...]"
Ranma flushed a little as Ukyou's eyes flashed. "[Look you, just because you're from-]"
"Aw, cut it out," sighed Ranma. "It's way to late for this. I just wanna find somewhere to sleep." His stomach rumbled, reminding him it was yesterday when he ate last. "...and maybe a meal," he amended.
"[Just head for the center of town, then,]" Nabiki said, yawning a little. "[Actually, I could do with a nap myself. Care to put me back in the ball? Even you should be able to make it to the center of town from here.]"
Ranma bristled a little at the insult, but reached down to tap the control on the Rattata's ball. With a flash, she vanished, lessening the weight on his shoulders. "What about you, Ukyou? You look pretty beat."
The Ponyta shook her head. "[No...I still don't trust her. Maybe this isn't the right place or something.]"
Ranma shrugged. "It's a town, anyway. Pretty dark, but I'll be fine. It's alright, Ukyou. You can sleep if you need ta."
Ukyou yawned, "[Well...if you're sure you'll be alright, sugar...]"
A flash and and the Ponyta vanished, leaving Ranma standing alone at the edge of town, the light of his Pokedex just enough to see by. He flipped it closed, letting his eyes adjust a moment before continuing in the starlit darkness.
The middle of town, not surprisingly, considering the hour, was deserted, leaving Ranma to pick among the buildings. Everything was dark, the occupants sleeping somewhere, he guessed. There was one that looked like a store, a big building, and something with a logo that looked like one of his balls. The latter seemed the most promising, and he hesitantly knocked on the door, yawning deeply.
Nothing. Figured. Moving into the alley between the store and this Pokeball place, he decided to forget it for the night. He'd just wait here until people began to show up in the morning and get some help and grub then.
He settled down, back against a wall, pack against his side. Should only be a couple of hours, after all. A martial artist like him should easily be able to stay up that...*yaaaawn*
It took about thirty seconds for Ranma to fall fast asleep.
