"I know, but someone has to do it," Miyuki Kobayakawa, her partner replied, "People have enough to worry about without having to deal with someone attacking them."
"Like saying things they should have said a long time ago."
"Exactly."
"So... what did you say to Ken, hmmm?"
"Well, I told him... Natsume!"
"Just wondering..," the shorter haired woman drawled, amusement tinging her voice.
"That sort of thing is none of your business!"
"Then you did talk to him."
"So what if I did?"
"Then it's a good thing to hear. Having you two together means that something is right in the world, even if most everything else is a mess."
Miyuki looked to her friend and partner, and couldn't help but smile.
Keiichi Morisato had seen many things in his lifetime, but not many of them would match the sort of thing that he was seeing at the moment.
For all three of the Norns were currently in full goddess regalia, and were floating with a bright matching aura around all three of them. They were there, seemingly unaware of anything around them, as they focused in unision on one thing. A low chanting filled the air, and energy crackled around him.
It was an awe inspiring sight, and something that he couldn't help but watch in wide eyed attention, but he held a ball of worry deep in his gut.
But within an instant, the three goddesses threw back their heads and beams shot from the markings on their foreheads and into the sky, causing a massive burst of light for but a moment.
Once he could look again, the goddesses were falling, and he, along with the two others he'd gotten for this task were already moving.
He caught Belldandy before she landed, and knelt with her in his arms. "Are you okay?"
"I'll be fine," the Norn of the Present replied, "But we could only do so much..."
"I know, but you did what you could, right? You did your best to give us all a chance."
"As best we could, but we exhausted our strength... and there are so many lives that will be..."
"You helped them as much as you could right? And now it's our turn to watch over you," he told her before looking up at Chihiro and Megumi where they held Urd and Skuld, respectively, "Right?"
Both girls looked back at him and nodded.
"See? We'll do what we can, so you rest, okay?"
"Thank you Keiichi. You're so kind," Belldandy told him and fell unconscious, with her cheek pressed against his chest.
Looking down at his beloved, he gave her a tender look while:
