Pokemon Speaker: We're Off To See The Professor! [Episode 91365]

by The Masked Lurker

[Pallet Town: Pallet Police Station]

"How amusing!" the police officer interrupted. He chuckled at the entertainment. "They make noise in reply to thy speech. Thou talks to them, dost thou?"

"Of course not," the young man replied. "It's not like I can understand them or anythin'! Heh heh heh!"

Officer Kuno merely raised an eyebrow at the antics of the provincial Trainer. What an odd youg man. He seemed to have have trained his Pokemon to make noise whenever speech was directed at them. An entertaining trick. Yet now, the ruffian seemed unduly concerned by his comment upon the Trainer's foible of conversing with servants. Hmmm. Perhaps the boy had been embarassed.

The police officer spoke up as he waved off what he perceived to be the worries of the young man. "Worry not, dear fellow. 'Tis no concern of mine whether or not thou consort with the Pokemon in your service in such a manner. 'Twas quite entertaining."

"Huh?" the Trainer replied.

"Now, thou said thou seekest employment with the Professor?"

[Pallet Town: Pathway to the Greenhouse]

The police officer lead the ways towards where the Professor would likely be this time in the morning. Now and then, he would extol the virtues of the Professor, talking about this accomplishment, that accomplishment. Accompanying Officer Kuno were the Trainer and his two Pokemon. None of them paid him any heed.

The Ponyta cantered here and there, examining the sights and smells of this large human habitation. Very different from the fields and forests that was the usual surroundings of her herd. The Rattata merely rode on her Trainer's shoulder, her hind hind legs perched upon his backpack. She had seen this all before and had resumed sleeping.

As for Ranma, he was still trying to puzzle out what Officer Kuno had said back at the station. It wasn't a big deal that he could talk to Pokemon? But why were Ukyou and Nabiki so surprised by it? Or was he implying something else? It didn't seem like it. This was so confusing!

"And here at these veritable houses of glass, the Professor hath recreated the lush gardens of the islands so that the creatures native there can flourish in our colder climes."

They were now standing in front of one the largest structures in Pallet Town. It was an enormous greenhouse. A latticed-glass dome reaching several stories high, it also had several wings extending from the base.

"!" remarked Ranma. He could see large trees inside of that building. It was like someone built a huge house around a forest.

"[!]" said Ukyou. She could sense the amount of heat held inside of the structure. The temperature was significantly warmer there inside that it was here outside. It was like the caverns the herd wintered in but with transparent walls.

"Whatever," commented Nabiki. She didn't see what the big deal was. The place was full of foreign Pokemon that were unfriendly towards native Pokemon, especially to those investigating the contents of the building. All she had wanted was a look around, a sniff or two, and maybe even a taste of some of the exotic food stored there. There had been no need to be so hostile about it.

Officer Kuno turned to Ranma and said, ""My dear fellow,'twould be best if thou returned thy Pokemon back into their Pokeballs. 'Tis for the best if they were not free to wander about unsupervised whilst thou speak with the Professor." The police officer then walked towards the door and went inside the entranceway.

Glancing towards the Ponyta and shrugging, he mumbled some apologies towards Ukyou and promised to let her back out as soon as possible. After putting the Pokemon back inside the Pokeball, he turned towards the Rattata. Nabiki had jumped off his backpack earlier when he returned Ukyou back to her Pokeball.

"C'mon, you got to get inside your Pokeball, too. The guy said I shouldn't let ya run around here."

"[And pray tell, Why not? I told you before, Saotome, I live here. Why shouldn't I be free to roam around in my home if I want to?]" The Rattata then made a sad face at her Trainer. "[Are you going to be the kind of Trainer that would deny his Pokemon her chance to see her home after being gone so long?]"

"Oh, no, you don't!" said Ranma. "It takes a trickier Nabiki than that before you're going to fool me." Puzzled by his reply, the Rattata dropped her teary act to try and work out her Trainer's words. The Pokemon soon vanished, and her Pokeball was dropped into its pocket around the Trainer's waist.

Ranma Saotome went into the entranceway of the greenhouse and walked deeper into the building.
