Rei glared back defiantly. "Who are you, and how dare you enter this place? You have the stench of her about you!"
"Do I, now? Well if you must know, I am Jedite, of the four gems of darkness. And, you, my dear, will be coming with me." As he spoke, his hand lifted, and black lightning began to play about it.
Though no trace of it showed on her face, Rei's spirit crumbled. *One of the four! Dear Goddess, protect me! My only chance is to catch him by surprise.* She continued to glare at him. "My sisters will be here any moment. Do you truly think that even you can defeat all of us?"
"All of you? My dear, I already have. Your ‘sisters' are all already dead. So, will you come along quietly, like a good little girl, or will I be able to have some ... fun first?" As he spoke, Rei's hand was behind her back, building the biggest fireball she could control. As Jedite finished, she flung the ball of fire at him. Never losing his smirk, he caught the ball in his hand. "Fun it is, then. Tell me, did you really think that this ... toy would hurt me? Really, I expected better from someone who gained my Dark Lady's attention. Oh well, this was slightly amusing." As soon as he caught the ball, Rei started to run for the side door to the room.
Jedite brought his hands together, snuffing the head sized ball of flame easily. Looking at Rei's attempts to flee, he thrust his hand to the floor. Black lightening traveled along a jagged path to Rei's feet and crackled up her legs, quickly spreading across her entire body. She suddenly stiffened and let out a scream born of agony. "Now, now, my dear. Do be a good girl and surrender. I would hate to have to damage you before my Lady can meet you."
Forcing down another scream, Rei's defiant glare returned. "I would never give you, or your Lady, that satisfaction. If you want me, you will have to take me." Inside, she knew that he could take he any time he wished, but refused to stop fighting.
Meanwhile, huddled in a corner of the room, Ranma had been forgotten by both Rei and Jedite, and that suited him just fine. One of the few bits of actual wisdom his father had imparted was to stay out of the way of magic users. Right up until the girl screamed, he was more than happy to let Jedite take her. "I just know I'll regret this in the morning," he grumbled as he got up and charged the gray robed sorcerer. As he landed a kick to Jedite's side, breaking his concentration, Ranma shouted to the girl, "Run while I distract him!"
Throwing a grateful glance at her rescuer, she sprinted for the side door. Before Jedite could recover, she had already escaped. As Jedite stood up, his smirk was gone. In it's place was an expression of pure rage. "Well, boy, it seems you lost me my prey. That was quite an impressive kick - but it will not be nearly enough to stop me." Jedite gestured briefly, and Ranma felt something catch him in the face and send him flying backwards, right into the pool that Rei had been bathing in. There was a flash, and Ranma vanished.
Jedite sighed briefly. "Well, I was going to break every bone in his body, but this is for the best I suppose. I do need to go find my prey again." He stalked off to begin the search.
