Scarlet chuckled, a hand in front of her mouth "The Kumon boy will be ready to start training tomorrow. He went through infusion and passed all preliminary tests with flying colors. Hohohohohohohoho..."
Hojo gritted her teeth. That damnable laugh always grated on his nerves. The worst thing about it was that his daughter Kodachi idolized the blonde woman and was trying to come up with her own version. He would have to do something about it or go insane like his late wife.
"Ryuu Kumon... Or should I say Beta-Unit 02," he repeated out loud, "I'm curious. Where did you find him?"
"Ryuu's father was a martial artist and sensei down on his luck. Their family dojo was closed and falling into disrepair. It collapsed on them roughly a month ago. Ryuu was found barely alive, buried under the debris"
"So, the boy is an orphan now?"
"Exactly... We followed your recommandations to the letter in our search for candidates. Children between 6 and 10 years old, already trained in some form of combat techniques if possible, without family or failing that, officially 'dead'. He's simply perfect"
Hojo scoffed at Scarlet's enthusiasm "Let me be the judge of that. We will see if he is up to the training soon. Anything else?"
"Yes. we found something in the ruins of the Kumon dojo. A set of scrolls detailing a previously unknown martial art. Mister Valentine was kind enough to expertize it for us. Apparently, this 'Yama Sen Ken' is an assassin's art. Perhaps, Beta-Unit 02 should learn it at some point in the future?"
Thankfully, Hojo had his back turned on Scarlet or she would have seen his anger at the mention of that name Vincent Valentine... Feh! That thug doesn't know anything! Always disturbing my work, giving lessons and hanging around my assistant... "Oh? And why is that?"
"Alpha-Unit 00 is well on his way to become an expert at swordsmanship. After reviewing the fist tests, our trainers recommended Beta-Unit 02 to be trained in unarmed combat primarily"
"It's their decision... I'm a scientist. My job is to ensure our subjects survive and to watch over them. By the way," asked Hojo, "What kind of Guardian Force has been infused in Beta-Unit 02?"
