Meteor: Trouble Comes in Microscopic Packages [Episode 93585]

There was a stowaway on the meteor. Despite radiation, atmospheric entry and raw probabilities against such things happening, an alien biological agent was now set loose on Earth.

Scientists had discovered recently that meteors sometimes carried amino-acid complexes through space. Was it such a stretch of the imagination to conceive that more advanced biological material could be found in such a setup as well?

Oxygen, heat and humidity woke the 'Visitor' from its hibernating state. Unfortunately for Humanity, it survived contact with Earth's biosphere and started to spread out of the fallen pieces of asteroid. Nothing seemed to be able to stand up to this completely new form of life for now.

There were places where it died out quickly such as in the crash site in Gobi but in inhabited places, it was another story...

Humans, plants and animals were infected. Confronted to the relevant immune systems of Earth's indigenous life forms, the 'visitor' started to mutate at a frantic pace until it would reach a form deadly to the natives.

Since only science-fiction writers and otaku ever dreamed of such a possibility, no one thought of checking the meteors for biological agents. The world was too preoccupied with the immediate physical damage and its long-term consequences for the planet and human civilization.

When the effects of the 'Visitor' would become obvious and undeniable, it would be already too late.
