Finding themselves at a party where a house was being refurbished, lawn tended, food served, laughter and music going on all around them - it tended to throw off their groove. For some more than others.
Sailor Mars twitched as she noticed someone else. "The Crown Prince?"
"Where?" Sailor Moon started looking around before finally spotting him. "Yaaaah. Everybody who's everybody is here?"
"Not quite but sort of," admitted Mars. "The things. The people."
"The things that are also people," pointed out Venus. "I wonder if any of them are single?"
Akane, Shampoo, Ukyo, and Kodachi were not in agreement. All of them had told the others that they were busy and they would NOT be going to see what Ranma was doing with his new fiancee.
Which made the way all four of them were sneaking towards the party all the more ironic.
"So it's agreed then," said Soun. "We drag your ungrateful son back and have the wedding immediately!"
"Growf!" said Genma-panda, nodding his agreement.
"We'll show this imposter not to mess with the Anything Goes School!" blustered Soun.
Venus went to mingle. Well, at least that was her intent. While most of the gods she saw were older and apparently married - some were not. Which was the cutest - a difficult decision! Still, these were deities and she wasn't sure about spending time with any single one when the buffet was here.
It also occurred to her to make friends with this 'Ranma' and his fiance - since that was her connection to this hunk convention.
Ami scanned and stared and blinked and stared and finally felt faint and found a nice chair to sit down in.
Power readings showed most of those present had readings that were off the scale, though bound somehow.
After a few minutes she'd realized why. Some of those present could reshape reality in their presence without intending, and an idle word might have blasted Tokyo off the map. So limiting themselves made absolute sense.
Others were not nearly so powerful. Ranging from about the level that she herself had started out with as a Senshi, through full Eternal, and on into the higher ranges of power which she was still trying to calibrate.
"You know, scanning with that intensity is rather like staring. Hardly polite," said a gruff voice.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Ami said, hastening to limit the scans to general and passive. Her eyes flicked over to the figure and she realized immediately WHO she was speaking to.
Short, about 5'5" if that. Thickly built though - especially the arms. One leg was twisted and in some metal-brace arrangement. Balding on top, with a carefully trimmed beard. He bore a walking stick, though a golden sledgehammer head adorned the top.
"You're staring now," said the figure.
"You're Vulcan," said Ami.
"Call me Hephaestus, it cuts down on people mistaking me for someone with pointed ears and green blood," said Hephaestus distastefully. "Look here now, Mizuno-san, this is just a quiet get-together and house raising. Stop treating it as something to study and you'll enjoy it all a mite more."
"Y-y-yes," said Ami, thinking of a million and one (or at least close to that number) things she wanted to ask the god of the forge.
"Fine and good, I'll just finish up here and get going," said Hephaestus. "I was planning on staying longer but one of your friends reminds me of my ex-wife. Lots of unpleasant memories there."
Makoto stared about her, admiring muscular tall handsome tall strong looking tall masculine forms. They were all so tall too!
The guy setting those menhir blocks together to make a sort of stone torii, he was just plain HUGE. She wondered if he was single.
"Magni? Yeah, but he's kind of seeing someone," said a voice nearby. "One of the giants I think."
Makoto blinked and looked around for the speaker.
"Down here," said the voice.
Makoto looked down. Okay, they weren't all tall.
"Kilie Liebowitz," said the little blue ape. "Fae of the Seelie, fifth rank, specialty: daydreams."
"Sailor Jupiter, Senshi of Plants & Lightning," tried Makoto.
"You're looking for one of the unattached deities to hang with?" asked Kilie. "You'd be better off not trying to push anything. Some of the goddesses around here have a reputation for being mischievous. And that's one of the more polite terms for it."
"Oh?" Makoto frowned. Were these an enemy after all?
"Not like that," assured Kilie. "They'd try to help you out and end up fixing you up with complete disasters. Don't forget that these are all, or mostly, not as human as they appear. Having you fall deeply in love with a tanuki statue would strike a few as amusing. Just relax and be discrete."
As into her head had popped a picture of her attempting to snuggle with that statue, Makoto flinched. "I see your point."
Hotaru had a full belly after getting a snack here and another there. She didn't remembered eating that much at any one place, but when she thought about it - she had eaten at quite a few tables set up in the yard.
Eventually she decided to go inside the house, found a bed and get a quick nap to sleep it off.
What she didn't expect was:
