The morning fog moved away from the depths of Ranma's brain at the sound of a cute alarm clock ringing. Ranma stirred those stumps, burrowing around in the sheets to look for a way out of his confines. "Umiyu..." he sighed as he did so. A memory trickled through the fog of sleep, letting him know that he had been in possession of the Great Will, and that he'd wished escape into another life.
The fog of sleep, however, still obscured which life he had been reborn into.
He lay upon his chest and noticed a distinct lack of springiness, the presence of which was associated with having breasts. This was a promising sign. He might have ended up in a guy's body this time. On the other hand, he felt as if the bed was rather large for him, and the grunts of his voice as he burrowed through the sheets seemed rather light to his ears. This was a bad sign, as it seemed he was young.
He reached up to scratch his head. Short hair. Good sign. Theory of male reincarnation supported. He finally found the clock that was making that noise, reaching out and silencing it.
It was cute. Bad sign.
Ranma looked blearily around the room. It seemed rather big, which meant he was probably a little kid. It also seemed just a tad too cute to belong to a boy. Effeminate boy, perhaps? Maybe he could fix it.
"You're late, Sakura," came a cute voice.
Damn.
Ranma wiped away the eye boogers from her peepers and took a more careful look around. Way too cute to be a boy's room, this bedroom. Also, there was a girl's uniform, rather small, hanging on a peg. Ranma, nee Sakura, looked around to find the source of the voice. She wasn't very successful, as only thing in the room that could've made the noise was a TV/VCR setup, with a cute stuffed toy standing up as if to watch it.
"You'd betta hurry if ya wanna get ta school on time, Sakura-chan!" piped the stuffed toy, punching a button on the remote to rewind it.
Cute magical mascot → Magical Girl. Double damn.
