The work day went by much too slowly for Maya's taste. There were very few tests today, and that left little for the young assistant to do. There wasn't even a drill to participate in, much as she may have loathed those normally. I think I'm gonna go nuts from the boredom, she thought to herself as she sat at the bridge, reading an issue of Voice of Submission that Makoto lent her. Odd little manga, she thought as she flipped through it. Never thought that someone would want to fuck their mother.
She suddenly heard someone walk in and hurriedly put the manga away, not wanting to be caught slacking off. She looked over her shoulder and noticed just who it was, and was relieved to see that it was Misato and not the Commander. The last thing I need is Commander Ikari coming over and beating down on me, Maya thought. At that moment, she remembered seeing Misato at that magic shop last night. Might be worth talking to her about it, she thought with a grin.
Misato noticed Maya looking at her and gave the technician a curious gaze. “Yes, lieutenant?” Misato asked, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked downward toward the girl.
“Sorry,” Maya breathed softly in mock embarrassment, twiddling her thumbs as she did. “Say, do you think we could talk for a bit? Something's on my mind.” Maya let her eyes wander Misato's body, suppressing the urge to lick her lips as she did. She's so beautiful, Maya thought. Strong too. I wouldn't mind having a little bit of her energy. Well, maybe more than a little.
Misato shrugged and nodded casually, then walked up to Maya and leaned over so that she could speak to her more softly. “What's on your mind?” she asked.
“You know that magic shop that opened recently here in the city?” Maya began. “I was wondering what you were doing there last night.”
Misato paled slightly and looked away, looking as if she were trying to figure out what to say in response.
Maya's voice lowered to a mere whisper as she brought her lips close to Misato's ear. “What do you think of what that wizard said about NERV? You know, trying to bring about 3rd Impact and all. Think it's true?”
Misato's eyes threatened to pop right out of her head at that. She looked at Maya for a moment, then whispered into the girl's ear softly. “Talk to me in private during lunch, okay?”
“All right,” Maya agreed, nodding to her as she did. She then moved her face away from Misato's and spoke at a more normal volume. “Thank you, Major,” Maya said sweetly, flashing a cute smile. “I'll be sure to do that.”
“Good to hear,” Misato returned in a friendly, assuring tone. “Anything to help.” With that, Misato turned around and left, presumably headed to handle some other business.
Maya smiled softly to herself as she returned to looking at the manga she had been viewing earlier. She seems to think that wizard's right, Maya concluded. Not that she disagreed with that assessment, but it was hard to believe that anyone could have missed it, what with all the secrets floating around NERV. Maya shrugged and resumed reading. It would all become clearer eventually. She just had to keep prying.

Misato quickly headed for the lunch room, thankful to the gods that no one was there. She looked left and right, then took a seat at a nearby table, relaxing as best she could as she reached out for Shinji.
Master? Misato called out telepathically.
Yes? Shinji's response came to her.
Misato breathed a sigh of relief. Master, it seems Maya saw us last night when we took Ritsuko to see that wizard.
There was a pause on Shinji's end. Really? Are you sure?
Positive, Misato replied. She just asked me about it. She also asked me whether I believe that story about NERV trying to bring about 3rd Impact.
Though Misato couldn't physically hear him, she could swear she sensed her Master sighing. I see, he said.
What do I do? Misato asked, unable to think of something to do on her own.
