"Spell?" Ranma repeated. "What spell? And what do you mean my 'greater connection to my feline nature'?"
Bast shook her head and continued.
"You have become a hengeyokai," she said. "Some might mistake you for a therianthrope but the rules are different, and I don't have time to explain them, you must seek others to do so. Not the Chinese, such creatures were common only on this Island."
Bast faltered and her bothered seemed to partially vanish, becoming immaterial and hazy.
"Hey!" Ranma said. "What's happening to you?"
"My reincarnation is awakening," Bast said. "When that happens I'll vanish back into her. That is what I must tell you."
Ranma blinked at the idea of a goddess in reincarnation but nodded his head.
"You must seek out my new life," Bast said, her voice and form becoming full of static. "And free the bonds placed on her. This is my price for saving your life?"
"Saving my life?" Ranma asked. "What do you mean? No, wait, who do I look for?"
"I know nothing of who I am in this life," Bast warned. "And this shall be the only time my past memories break through the blocks without help. The Goddess of Cats died long ago fighting great evil and has been reborn as...
