Which was how he liked it. After all, it was easier, wouldn't arouse suspicion, and allowed him to come and go as he needed to. It was surprising to him what could be done with the proper application of funds. He wasn't the most business savy person he knew, but putting enough gold in front of a person got them to sell or build a lot. All he'd had to do was use some of the funds he'd had and he got what he'd needed.
Of course, he had no idea if he had over paid, but it didn't matter to him. He'd gotten what he wanted, even if he now had to deal with that property taxes.
On the inside though, the building was quite different than those around it. He went downstairs and went into the penthouse office, peering around at what would have been a massive place no matter where it was. His footsteps echoed in the room as he walked along a floor illuminated by large windows that ran the length of the place.
It was an odd feeling to be there for the part of him that had been a teenaged boy used to sleeping on a futon.
Still, he could recognise it all, and as he continued on, he thought about:
