"'Assault'?" Mercury asked with confusion showing on her face.
"With a possible added charge of attempted murder. He was going after a female who was running from where she had been held, and your members assaulted him."
Uranus gave her a dirty look. "Are you talking about that big and ugly beast we went after about a week ago?"
"I will admit that he is not the most attractive of fellows, but you had no right to attack."
"Even when he was going after a young mother-to-be?" Neptune asked archly.
Meiko's full lips curved up slightly. "She wasn't human."
"What..?"
"She is a member of a race that will eat their young when first born in an incontrollable need to regain energy after giving birth. The reason she was being held was to keep her from doing that, except that she managed to get free, and in the haze caused by what was used to calm her, she panicked. My client, though not a member of the society that deals in such matters, was sufficently capable in assisting in recovering her in time for the birth, or would have been had you not gotten involved."
Venus winced. "But isn't he a demon of some sort?"
"Close, but he is a daemon. A guardian daemon, who's reason for existing is to protect humanity from his darker cousins. In this case, he was charged to protect a certain spot where a dark ritual had occured, but had been contained in time. Unforunately, with your assault, you have caused him to be unable to protect it for the time being, and that means that anyone who wishes to release the powers contained there may have the chance."
"I just wanted to stop the monster..," Uranus commented irritably.
"And in the process, you may have allowed the release of powers, that while not world ending," the lawyer told her, "are not nice at all."
"What would you have them do then?" an arriving Pluto asked.
