Misato blinked as she felt her lovely pet Pen2's beak gently poking at her leg. Misato thought it was somewhat strange for her feathered friend, but looked down anyway.
“Waark!” Pen2 exclaimed.
“Yes?” Misato asked, tilting her head to a side.
“Wark!”
“Really....” Misato nodded softly and smiled at her beloved penguin. “Sure, I'd love to hear your idea...”
“Waark. Wark wark!”
“Now isn't that rude to ask that everyone be excluded?” Misato asked in a sweet tone.
Ritsuko blinked at the sight before her, gazing at Misato as if the woman were positively mad.
“Oh don't mind her,” Asuka said dismissively.
“She can communicate with animals now,” Rei explained calmly.
“Pen-Pen's actually very helpful,” Shinji added.
Ritsuko nodded slowly and flashed a nervous smile. “I see,” she said faintly. “Makes sense... I guess...”
After a while, Misato and Pen2 stopped talking, and Misato turned to face the group.
“Well, it seems Pen-Pen has an idea,” Misato declared.
“An idea?” Ritsuko parroted incredulously. “About what to do with Maya?”
“Yep!” Misato chirped back. “Isn't he just a helpful little guy?”
“Y-yeah...” Ritsuko stammered, trying to keep up with everything.
“Well, what's the little guy's suggestion?” Asuka asked curiously.
“Yeah, what is it?” Shinji chimed in. “I'm really curious to see what's on Pen-Pen's mind.”
“Well...” Misato started to explain...
