Her only problem was that sneaking had nearly gotten her caught already. Somehow one of the guests had managed to spot her when she'd thought that she'd been doing all that she could to avoid that. Luckily for her, he'd only said that she should stop 'trying to be a wallflower or they'll mistake you for a troublemaker.'
Not wanting that, she decided to make like she was attending the party. As such she had to act like she was there for fun and had to go through the motions of being just like everyone else. It was easier than she had expected, though she did suppose that the mix of people there helped.
Part of her plan was to eat and drink like the invited guests. The only question was what to put into her mouth, and as she walked, she found something that looked promising. There was some sort of punch being served out of a rather ornate pitcher, and those drinking it seemed to be rather pleased by its taste. In fact one or two were waxing poetically about the flavor, which got her interested. Searching for her fiancee was proving to be thirsty work, and if she had a drink, she wouldn't be bothered about not 'digging in'.
So she took a cup of it, and wandered off, sipping as she went.
Unfortunately, what she was consuming was intoxicating even to the gods.
To a teenaged chef, it went way beyond that. She barely made it away before she started stumbling, and she quickly deriorated to the point where she was flat out on her back and happily identifying what clouds looked like. Not that she cared, as she was too drunk to care about such things as dignity, searching or the possible problems that attractive young women could run into when intoxicated.
But she would, once she recovered.
At the moment though, she was too busy grinning madly at the 'birdie' overhead, even as she couldn't remember her own name.
Being an Amazon warrior, Shampoo crept along ready for anything and expecting trouble. Somewhere in this strange place was her husband, and she wasn't about to give up on him. They were a married couple, and that was that.
All she had to do would be to sneak through all these people and find her husband, so they could finally be together.
Unfortunately she found herself bumping into a pair of legs which stopped any foward motion she might have had.
"What do you think you're doing?" growled the barer of those legs.
Realising that she wasn't about to be spared a confrontation, Shampoo got up and pulled out her weapons of choice. "Shampoo come for husband. Strange girl no get in way.
A dark look came over the woman's face as she regarded the teenager in front of her. "If you're talking about Ranma Saotome, forget it."
"Why Shampoo do that? You no tell Amazon womans what to do!"
"I can and will."
"What make strange woman think that?"
"Because I am Artemis, patron goddess of the Amazons," the 'woman' replied as her piercing gaze tightened on the girl. "And you know what?"
"What?"
"We're going to have a little... 'chat'."
"You no tell Shampoo what to do," Shampoo informed the goddess while pointing a bonbori at her, "And you is crazy if think you is goddess!"
"Really..?"
"Yes!"
Artemis barely moved her hands, and both of the bonbori that Shampoo was holding lost their heads. Then as the warrior was left staring at what was left of her weapons, the goddess pulled her close by her collar and growled in the Amazon dilect, "(I'm not in the mood for arguements right now. We're going to have a talk about your behavior, and you'd better hope that I don't decide to make you permanently into an animal.)"
Since she hadn't seen the goddess move, Shampoo could only nod weakly as she stared wide eyed at Artemis while:
