"Contact the Vanguard, have her and her escorts break formation and head towards Green-17. I want them to fire a couple of warning shots at the cruisers once they have a clean arc and to engage them, in case of they refuse to comply" While the reflex warheads were probably more than enough to finish the alien cruisers, not all of the Skull Vindicators had been outfitted with the heavy anti-ship missiles. Actually only Max, Miriya and two other squad leaders had the ordinance outfitted.
That and moving the Ikazuchi class cruiser and her Garfish escorts would make the Minbari rethink their strategy. With luck that would buy the time Skull needed to reach EF-1 before the Minbari did.
"Delivered and acknowledged, Admiral" replied the senior tech.
At that moment Lisa Hunter entered the bridge looking agitated and not too happy. Alerts hardly were good omens, especially when awaiting a VIP.
"Situation?"
"We have three Minbari cruisers some 45000 KM away from us. They are currently closing in onto the EF-1." The XO responded
"And what are we doing about it?"
"Skull is on its way, also ordered Vanguard and her escorts to Green-17” responded Rick instead “I ordered the Vanguard to fire a warning shot first; hopefully the Minbari will take note of it and surrender" He had his doubts, the situation didn't make much sense and with the lack of Intel on the Minbari...
"And if not, then the Vanguard will have all the attention of the enemy cruisers, and hopefully some fighters after they launch their own squadrons” it was as good plan as any.
“Very well, what is Skull’s ETA?”
“Fifteen minutes to target”
“Well, then have the Pegasus move to Green-10 and hmm…. How fast can Nereid plot a small fold?”
“Not fast enough, sir”
“Hmm… it is on Max’s hands then.” It was not that she did not trust Max, hell, she knew how good he was for those missions, and she had fist hand knowledge of that. But with a foreign VIP in the line one could not take much for granted. Especially since so much was riding on being in good terms with him and EarthGov. Loosing EarthForce One was not an option.

Meanwhile the legendary Skull speeded towards the EarthForce One in a race against time.
