At first, Mercury had kept up a 'human' identity in order to blend back into society as well as find new potential slaves for the Dark Kingdom. Usagi had finally mustered up the courage to approach the blue haired genius and introduced herself. If it was a few days earlier, Ami would have blushed and accepted her friendship, feeling a faint but strong connection between them.
However, Dark Mercury only felt a very faint connection, and ignored it in favor of calculating the potential connections Usagi would bring. She suggested that they meet at her home the next day to get to know each other better. After Usagi agreed, Mercury went home and told her token mother (whom she had converted the night prior) to act normal when Usagi arrived, as opposed to standing practically naked and serving her mistress' every whim.
The next day after school, Usagi and Mercury arrived at the Mizuno household where Usagi was quickly drugged and brought to the Dark Kingdom for personal brainwashing while Ami's mother stayed at home in case Usagi's parents phoned.
As Mercury slowly shifted Usagi's loyalties to her, she unknowingly released a personality that was not to be awakened in this timeline (At least, not for a long while). Princess Serenity took stock of the situation and was nearly overwhelmed with the dark energies being used on her. However, she was able to muster up some mental force and used the Usagi personna as a shield to protect herself. Little did she know that normally, she would not even THINK of using someone else to protect herself...
With Usagi taking the blunt of all the brainwashing, Serenity slowly plotted in the takeover of the Dark Kingdom. Without the Silver Crystal it would be very hard to do so, and she would have to get rid of Metal'la in a fashion that would leave no doubts as to who's stronger, but first, she'll have to trick Dark Mercury into thinking that she was loyal to her...
Commanding the Usagi personality to give in slowly, Serenity chuckled grimly within her mental shields. Even if her senshi has been corrupted, it doesn't mean she was helpless. Maybe the energies of the Dark Kingdom can be used to her advantage...
The only reason why Mercury didn't notice what happened was because she had turned to get some tools to further her efforts. The crecent moon representing the Lunar Family appeared on Usagi's forehead for a fraction of a second, turned a dark gray (only a shade lighter than black), before disappearing again, leaving only Usagi to moan in pleasure and pain.
Soon after that, Usagi broke and became Mercury's 'willing' and most trusted slave, bringing a few of her old friends and even family into the Dark Kingdom's wing for her mistress. Ocassionally, Usagi would get to turn a few people personally without being watched; Usagi loved doing those, even though she would never remember certain parts of it.
