Captain Lee Adama felt nervous, because of two things. He had never made a jump back into normal space only in a fighter and he somehow knew that something would be waiting there. Maybe the enemy and a fight, maybe something else.
The Jumppoint opened in front of the 24th and the first Starfuries and ships streaked into it, falling back into normal space. He breathed in deep and accelerated his Thunderbolt towards the jumppoint. The orange web of energy streaked by and than he found himself back in normal space, surrounded by the stars, Starfuries and some ships.
"Apollo," a female voice said over radio.
"What is it, Starbuck," he asked back.
"Look at three o'clock."
He turned his head and looked into the direction.
"Oh hell," he started letting go a stream of curses that lasted maybe two minutes, never repeating one curse and going through three languages.
In that direction he could see a large Asteroid, but it only looked like an asteroid on the first glance, because no asteroid had any form of vegetation or a city on it. The SDF-1 floated next to the 'Asteroid' and a stream of shuttles and Starfuries moved between them.

President Nora Clarke breathed in deep, letting everything she know run through her head. EarthAlliance was at war and she had to tell the public. She looked out to her chief of staff, who prepared the people of the media.
She closed her eyes for a moment. She could see the pictures of EarthForce ships and starfuries blow up, the pictures from Hawaii, nearly annihilated by the Tsunami. Se may be a politician, but she still was just human and still had some of her ideals.
She wouldn't tell the people that it was a trap of Zor that got the Zentraedi to assault the fleet, trying to get back the ship that had been 'Zor's battle fortress' before it had been refit by EarthForce. And when someone else found out, after the war, no one would be interested in it.
The only thing that interested now, was to get the population of Earth and the colonies into a mood FOR the war. This was maybe the worst decision she had to make in her whole life. Never in her political career she had to make such a decision and she had hoped that she wouldn't have to make it in her incumbency.
But she knew what to say to the press. And it wouldn't include the Omega fleet. She breathed in as she heard her chief of staff call for her.
"Ladies and Gentleman, the President."

General Donniger looked at the people around the table. They were the best strategists and tacticians, EarthForce and more civilian organizations had to offer. He closed his eyes for a moment. What could they do, without involving Omega Fleet to early?
"The number of Zentraedi vessels is too high," Doctor Jim Ryan said," We need to reduce it without loosing our ships."
"And confuse them, apply pressure, make them paranoid and loose moral," another doctor said," A confused enemy is easier to fight."
"A pity that we can use the strategy of Hannibal in this fight."
The other around the table nodded.
"We should be able to use something like snipers in space. And reduce the enemy without being detected."
There was a short silence in the room.
"Didn't the Zor-files say that the Zentraedi and the Robotech Masters know only the fold drive?"
Donniger nodded. He had studied and memorized most of the files.
"Yes, they do."
A smile grew on Ryan's face.
"I heard from one of the engineers that the Zentraedi weren't able to detect jumppoints when the Midway and the Pioneer came out of hyperspace. Maybe we could open jumppoints from hyperspace directly in their fleet, but not send a ship through."
Donniger became interested and looked at Ryan.
"And?"
Ryan smiled a bit more.
"We send a swarm nuclear tipped missiles through. That should cripple some of the ships and reduce the moral, as they don't know where the attack came from."
The others in the room nodded and smiled.
"We should call it Operation 'Spam-Mailing'."
There were a few groans in the room.
