New Frontier - Zentraedi War: Foreshadowing Events [Episode 100254]

by AWarringer

Rick Hunter swore as he stumbled up. The sudden loss of gravity and now the return of it wasn't really something he enjoyed and it had messed up his balance a bit. He placed one hand on the MockingBird and steadied himself. He still wondered why there had been an opening in the hull of the SDF-1.

He sighed and looked at his plane. He was glad that the MockingBird was still in one piece, when the hull closed behind him. It was one of only three fighter planes of its type that had been build, one of the three Prototypes of the YF-23 Black Widow II. He had always wondered how his father had gotten his hands on this plane that nearly beat the F-22.

He looked around. He didn't really know where he was on the SDF. He had been too preoccupied with finding an opening, before he lost his airsupply or space froze over his plane. As he looked around, trying to find some way inside the starship, he wondered how the hell he had gotten into space anyway.

The last thing he remembered before the canopy of his plane froze over, was the blinding light that had spread out from the SDF and covered the whole isle below and him. He had hit the afterburner when the glow intensified, but it had been to later. Next thing was that the engines dying. He was glad that he still had those liquid boosters for the real kick while flying. He had been able to use them to correct his course and finding the hole in the hull, before it closed.

"At least there is light," he muttered and got back to the canopy to get the emergency survival pack of the ejector seat.

He opened the pack and got the flashlight from it, pointing it in the direction of one dark corner. The corner lead to some kind of corridor. He sighed again and started to walk. He had already tried to use the radio to contact the SDF while still in space, but something had fired the radio.

"Might as well try to find the crew."

He had heard from Roy that most parts of the SDF-1 were still unexplored, so he knew that it could take some time before he found his way.

As he had walked maybe an hour, turning out the flashlight in areas with enough light, to save the power, he sat down on a fallen over crate. He was thirsty so he started to drink some of his water. He never noticed that strange white glow raise from the crate and move around him. As the glow touched him, he stiffed, the bottle of water falling out of his hand. His eyes glazed over as he fell over and from the crate with a muffled grunt.

Not far away from the point Rick had fallen down, a small sensory pad, installed by some engineers during the rebuild of the SDF-1, registered the sound of the falling bottle and Ricks grunt, causing an alarm to flash somewhere in the ship.

Rick opened his eyes. He stood in front of a large window, with several dozen Thunderbolt and Veritech Starfuries streaking by. Down below he could see the blue, green, brown and white marble of Earth.

"You better should prepare, honey," the voice of a woman said behind him.

He remembered the voice of the woman that harshly tried to get him away from Macross Island when the SDF-1 launched. He turned a round and saw her. She was clothed in the uniform of EarthForce with the rank markings of a General. She was a bit older than he had thought, but she still was beautiful to his eyes.

"Yes," he heard himself say.

Than he found that he moved towards the woman and placed a kiss on her cheek. But before he could make a further step, a small streak shot through the door and attached itself to his leg.

"Don't go, Daddy," the little boy said and Rick wondered what happened to throw him into the Twilight Zone.

His body picked the boy up and loked him into the eyes.

"I have to, Danny," he heard himself say," Or do you want that our home is run over by them?"

The boy shook his head and Rick wondered who the hell them were.

"Than I have to go now."

He turned the boy over to the woman.

"Take care of mommy, okay?"

The boy stiffed and gave something that looked like a salute.

"Yes, daddy."

He felt his body smile, before the scene changed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The scene had changed to something that wouldn't be out of place in a bad SciFi movie, but it had more similarities with the fighting scenes from Independence Day. He looked out of the Canopy of a fighter.

Masses of fighters and giant ships simply appeared in something that couldn't be jumppoints. They were all grouped around a giant structure. A look behind him showed EarthForce fleet, including some ships he had never seen before. Suddenly hundreds of white glowing beams lanced out from the EF-ship towards the unknown fleet, destroying several hundred of the giants, while thousands of missiles streaked away from the EF-vessels and towards the giant structure. The unknown fleet didn't immediately start to fire at EarthForce, instead the beams of their weapons lanced out towards the landmasses of Asia down below on Earth.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO," he heard himself scream before pressing the trigger on the flight stick and launching some missiles of his own into a group of fighters in front of him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rick groaned as he slowly regained consciousness. He opened his eyes and regretted it immediately.

"Welcome back in the land of the living, kiddo," he heard the voice of Roy nearby.
