On the other hand, they didn't look put out at all, and were somehow submerging some sort of differences they had just for this. They had already decided upon making a group, and they were excited about it for some reason. He didn't know why exactly that was, but he did know that his mouth had caused some problems again.
So he looked down over the edge, wondering how long it would take to get low enough that he didn't break too many bones if he jumped. That seemed to be a long time in coming, and he was trying to figure out when it would be worth it. Water would be something easier to hit, but leaping from too high and it'd be worse than he'd be able to deal with. Then again, the ground wasn't exactly soft, and there were all sorts of problems like that one big hole... which seemed odd to him.
"What's that?" he asked, peering at the cave in question.
The martial artist turned and looked at what had his attention. "What?"
"That."
"It's a cave."
"Yeah," he replied, "But it don't look right."
"That's because it isn't," the wizardess agreed, "It shouldn't be that big for the area."
"I'd say so. And I think I know what it is," the ardrow told them.
"What?"
"It looks like a monster lair. I can't tell from here if it's any one I'm familiar with, but there's something definately living in there."
The fire elf gave a flat smile. "Well, I do think that you'll get a chance to identify it real soon."
"Why is that?"
"We're heading right for it."
That brought a sound of surprise from the dagger wielder. "Well, it sounds like we're going to be a busy company then. A few minutes after forming our group, and we're already heading for our first adventure."
"Maybe it's because we've got one of the Elder Race with us," the kirrfolk commented.
"It could be."
Ranma fought the urge to roll his eyes and merely settled for resting his chin on his palm and his elbow on the edge of the lifeboat while:
