Wild Zoids: Or maybe not [Episode 101587]

by Earthchild

"So when do you think they will get up," asked Ranko. Looking at her card hand intensely. 2 jacks in hand, plus 2 queens and an ace. To bet or not to bet, that is the question. She snuck a quick peak at her brother.

"How the heck am I suppose to know," Ranma said looking at his own hand. "I didn't expect them to faint."

Out of the corner of her eyes she saw Ranma frowned and pout. Time to bet. She smirked internally. This was too easy.

The two were sitting at the table of a small office in the hanger. The Tendo sisters and two other girls they haven't met before were spread out on the floor. The twins had found a mini-fridge with a few sodas that they enjoyed as they waited for the girls to return to conscious.

"Oh my." Ranma and Ranko looked over to see Kasumi sitting up. "What... where...," she looked around confused before recondition of her surroundings finally came. She then spotted the Saotomes at the table. "So it was true? You really have....,"

Ranma held up his hand to stop her. "Umm about that.... We'll have to explain that in a moment when everyone wakes up." He motioned to the others.

"Come sit with us till then." Ranko moved over to make room for the elder girl. "We can always play another time," she said much to Ranma's relief. The three chatted as the others slowly came awake.

Finally they were all awake and pestering the twins. After some quick introductions Ranko spoke up. "Ok ok, sheesh. You make it sound like you're going to die or something....."

"Maybe not but still a rare zoid," cut in Nabiki. "And to think we have 2 in out team...."

"Ummm you don't," Ranma said nervously. He sweated as the entire room looked at him. "Its part of a scam pops came up with," he quickly continued. "A couple of weeks back we were really short for cash and there were some major repairs that had to be done. Pops hit on the idea of holding a sort of carnival show and charging people to enter. People pay to see the exotic so we retro-fitted our zoids to look like a Pegasus and Griffon."

"We would have liked to have battled for the money," continued Ranko, "but both zoids were damaged and not in exactly battle worthy condition at the time. So we kind of had to make do. Pops told us not to bother removing the excess parts till we reach here."

Silence prevailed through out the room.

"So zoid not real? Is fake," asked Shampoo.

To illustrate the point Ranko went to the door and stuck her head out. "Felicia, Shadow Wind, shake off the excess." At the words, the group in the office watched through large windows as the zoids, first, looked towards Ranko, then letting off small puffs of smoke before they started to seemingly fall apart. At least parts fell. The wings, mane, tail and the majority of the head fell away. 2 Lighting Siax, that did not carry their customary Lighting Beam Cannons on their back, stretched in a very catty manner.

"Well, they certainly look happy," Ukyo, muttered dejectedly. She had so wanted to look at the working of a hybrid. Nor was she the only one. All the others had varying degrees of disappointment on their faces. Nabiki looked like someone had taken away her favorite candy. Akane was muttering about wanting to fight a hybrid, a sentiment Shampoo agreed with. "So what happened to their main weaponry?" Ukyo felt the need to change the mood."

"Had to take it off," said Ranko. "Couldn't fit the head nor wings with that thing in the way. Just have to attach it back on."

Ranma frowned. "Stupid forward pointing cannons," he muttered. The one thing he hated about the Siax. Maybe he could talk to Kasumi and Ukyo later.

It was a pretty downcast group that made it's way back to the house a few minutes later.
