Wild Zoids: Zoids of Land and Air [Episode 101583]

The twins bowed politely. "I'm sure Soun had already told you that these two would be joining the Wreaking crew."

"That's right. It's been a long held dream of ours to form a team that can reach Class-S in the rankings. Now that dream looks close becoming reality," Soun held up a fist while looking to the heavens. "With both families together we can't lose."

There was much blinking at that. Class-S. Only the elite of the elite reached Class-S. Arguably the prize money was much higher but still....

"Let me get this straight," dawdled Nabiki. "You want us to reach Class-S so that you can live off our winnings."

"That's rig...," started Genma before he realized what he was saying. "No!! I mean of course not. The only reason would be pride. To show what kind of material you are made of. To show.."

"Put a sock in pops. You can't make speeches worth a damn," shouted Ranma as he bopped his father.

"And an awful liar too," added Ranko as she stuck her foot out to trip him. Genma landed face first on the floor.

He was up instantly. "Insolent children. Treat your elders with respect," he shouted.

"Now now Saotome, relax a little. Lets celebrate the formation of this new team with a few drinks."

"Good idea Tendo. Lets head out." With that the two disappeared.

Akane stood up and glared at the two interlopers who dared to think they could just waltz in and join their team. "Just for the record. We are doing fine so we don't really need your help," she said scaldingly before stomping off to the hanger.

"What's her problem," growled Ranko.

"Oh don't mind her, she's usually a sweet girl, if a little hot tempered." Kasumi smiled at the pair.

"A little, sis. Isn't that like saying a mountain is tall," Nabiki raised her eyebrows at Kasumi before turning towards the sibling. "Anyway from the looks of things we don't get much say in this matter. So you guys might as well settle in."

"Oh my. I will have to get a few more rooms ready. Why don't you two get your stuff until then."

The twins shrugged and stood up. "We'll move the Zoids to the hanger first," said Ranma.

"I'll get the hanger door," replied Nabiki also standing up. "The doorway is around the corner. Just drive up."

Ranko nodded. "Ok see you in a bit. Come on bro. Felicia hates being under a tarp." The two left the room as Nabiki made her way to the hanger.

"I'll come with you Nabiki. I want to see their Zoids." Kasumi followed.

Inside the hanger Ukyo, and Xian Pu (or Shampoo) were standing next to Shampoo's Saber Fang watching Akane pacing about raving about the new teammates.

"Shampoo think it time of month for her," Shampoo whispered to Ukyo.

"Perhaps. But then again this is Akane. She has to shout at least once a day at something." Shampoo nodded.

"Oh quit it already little sis," came a voice from the side. Nabiki walked towards the group followed by Kasumi. "They've been hired already and thats that. So deal with it."

"Yes, Akane. Remember they are part of the team now. Try to get along," Kasumi added.

"I guess... I was a little rude." Akane had her head down so she didn't see Shampoo, Ukyo and Nabiki roll their eyes. Nabiki went over to a consol and pressed a button. The large hanger doors started to open. The others gathers around looking toward the opening expectantly.

"So what kind of Zoids do they have," Ukyo felt the need to break the silence.

"We don't know Ukyo-san," replied Kasumi. "We only found out about this today."

"Sound like fountain man's stupid ideas."

"You don't know the half of it," snorted Akane. "Daddy think adding these two would get us to Class-S."

Shampoo and Ukyo stared at Akane. "They that good?"

"As we said before. We don't know." Nabiki was still looking at the doorway. The others continued to discuss this latest bit of news around her. "I think they are finally coming," she commented hearing metallic stomps outside.

The little group broke off to look eagerly at the opening. Four jaws dropped as a shape entered the hanger. "Oh my," Kasumi whispered in astonishment and awe.

It was an average sized zoid, slightly bigger than a liger. A dark blue body was framed in places with gold. The feathers on its wings were golden, tipped with red, as were its mane, horn and tail. Smooth lines dripping water, the Pegasus walked proudly to the center of the hanger, where it stopped and neighed as it dropped the partly folded tarp from its mouth.

The girls could only stare at such a rare zoid. Just as their minds were booting up again, they heard a noise at the entrance. Turning they, again, gaped. With wings of storm blue fading to silver, folded across its back, matching tail feathers and a body of blue framed by a silver mane and beak, a Griffon walked regally to stand behind the Pegasus. Even though the colors were a little faded and there were scrapes and scratched everywhere they set an impressive and imposing sight.

The girl's shock was not just because of the rarity of theses Zoids. It is known though out the zoid world that Pegasus and Griffons, also known as hybrids, are extremely temperamental and hard to handle. Because of their unique hybrid form, fighting with these zoids requires a pilot to be able to fight on air AND land. Not to mention there are twice as many controls and gauges to read, requiring super reflexes, speeds and adaptability on the part of the pilot. All in all, it takes an exceptional pilot to handle them and many Zoid warriors shy away from these overly complicated Zoids. But for those who do master them, a hybrid is a very powerful and effective weapon.

There was a loud thud as five girls fell to the floor in a dead faint.
