"Where am I?" Usagi asked.
She saw a small dojo on top of a large hill. Scanning the area, she saw a young girl about her age wearing a solid blue school uniform approaching her. As the girl approached, her hair changed from chestnut brown to fire orange depending if she was in shadow or in sunlight.
"Are you okay?" the girl asked.
Usagi tried brushing the tears away with her fingers. The girl pulled a hanky out of her school bag and handed it to her.
"There's a bench over there, if you care to sit down."
Following the girl's advice, Usagi sat down and wiped her tears away. She handed the hanky back to the girl.
"Thank you."
The girl smiled. "No problem. By the way my name is Tsurugino Mai."
"Tsukino Usagi."
Mai asked, "Boy troubles?"
Usagi blinked and looked away. "Sort of."
Before either could say anything, a younger girl with long blue hair and gray eyes ran up to them.
"Mai, come on! Come on! They need you to help out," the girl said, as she tried to drag Mai away.
"Hikari. I'm sure I'm not needed," Mai said, shaking her head in resignation.
"Usagi this is my younger sister, Hikari. Hikari, this is Usagi," Mai said.
Hikari bowed slightly. "It's nice to meet you, Usagi. I'm trying to convice my sis to help the cops out."
Mai stared at Hikari. "I am no Warrior of Justice."
"You have the powers."
"The costume is very silly looking."
"You have the looks for it."
"And besides, it's already over."
"Well...."
Usagi looked back and forth between the two sisters. "Err. What?"
Hikari said, "Big sis is being stubborn. She has these cool powers as the superheroine Makendo and refuses to use them."
"I look like a reject from a disco movie while powered up," Mai muttered. "And so far, I haven't seen a good reason to power up."
Shaking her head, Mai spoke a bit louder, "You have to pardon Hikari, she's something of a justice freak. If you have ever seen Amelia from Slayers, that's her personality."
"I'm not that bad!"
Mai stared at the sky. "All right. You're not clumsy and you don't go into five minute long justice speeches. You still have a hero worshiping complex."
"I also created my own martial arts attacks."
"So did she."
Usagi stood up. "If I'm..."
Mai interuppted, "Don't worry about it, Hikari and I go through this daily. It's nothing important. Personally, I'd just rather ditch the whole bit and go back to my martial arts training full time."
Usagi said, "I thought superheroines were supposed to have secret identities. But,...."
Mai laughed. "That may be so. But, everyone in this entire distict knows I am Makendo. A couple of my so-called enemies are just doing crimes, so they can get pictures of me in my superheroine outfit. Another reason for me to not transform."
Shaking her head, Usagi smiled a bit. 'I like her. Maybe for a little while I can forget about losing to Uranus and Neptune.'
