Sidhe Meddling: An 'Outstanding' Dwarf [Episode 101825]

by MarSil

Ranma had always been too “flighty” for his foster family - or most dwarves for that matter. As such, though respected for his skills and liked enough, he had been the one to stand out (figuratively and literally) among the crowd. Not exactly an outcast nor a loner, but different nonetheless.

Sure, he had had friends (also not too few rivals, most friendly to one degree or another) but no one really understood him. How can you be bored when discussing stone or metal for merely several hours? Nor did he have the proper tolerance or appreciation for good, proper Dwarvenale or -singing. (Or what dwarves held for singing.) And his voice was more than a tad too high, standing oddly out when trying to sing along instead of being drowned as not really loud enough. Why, he even was rumoured to once have said that “the Elves surely weren’t that bad” - but of course he simply didn’t know better. He’d never met one anyway. (Not that most of his clan had either.)

So after becoming accustomed to the ship's motions and able keep his feet under him he was now standing or wandering about the gently swaying deck in his armour as usual, looking around and marvelling at the vast world and sky above. Having heard many a tale about the crazy world out there he was excited, a bit anxious and curious about what was to come.
So far the food was good - and above all plentiful(he still had the Saotome appetite), the ale more to his liking (Even if he had to become used to the taste first. Was there any alcohol in it at all? He could drink a few mugs and didn’t even feel a thing!) and though sometimes a little too much, the Halflings weren’t as stoic (or “grumpy” as they themselves put it) as the Dwarves.

Turning to the Halfling next to him he asked,
“So, where are we heading again?”
