Ranma's Inn: Now that is a Catfist. [Episode 102671]

Ranma blinked down at the large panther-like creature stretched out in full feline "Yes as a matter of fact I do own the whole damn floor" fashion.

The panther raised his head to regard him with one green eye as if waiting for something.

"Uhm, don't mind me. I'll just be going now," said Ranma.

"Fine. Where are we going?" asked the panther.

"Huh? Oh. Let me guess, you're with the new tenant?" asked Ranma, somewhat relieved that communication and not digestion was his current activity.

"No. I'm a shikigami." The panther stood and Ranma revised his earlier assessment. More a tiger in general size except for the pure white fur. "You know, a guardian beast? Assigned here due to the star alignment at your birth and something of your ancestry. Sorry I'm late. Traffic on the spirit plane and all."

"Oh," said Ranma. "So, anyway, I got to go to school."

"Right," said the white tiger. "Don't mind me. Oh, one thing. I was talking to Mahoro earlier. You might want to hide those semi-ecchi picture books. I know you use them to sketch with, but she's apparently got some old fashioned notions - ecchi is bad and all."

"Got you," said Ranma, not wanting to face an angry android.

"Well, with that, be seeing you," said the tiger with a grin. Starting with the tail and working up, the tiger faded away. The grin was the last thing to disappear, holding its position a good ten seconds after the rest of the tiger had faded away.

As Nabiki had noted earlier, Ranma was a student at Furinkan though he had managed to avoid owing her money.

Going to school with a large lunch packed by Mahoro, Ranma wasn't aware that waiting for him at the school gates would be:

• Nabiki, out to ferret out Ranma's secrets and how best to divest him of whatever working capital he might have.
• Akane. As one of the few guys not participating in the morning fights, and someone who is polite and uninterested towards her - they actually have a decent if distant relationship.
• a new transfer student who heard he might be able to hook her up with a place to stay.
• one of the fiancee brigade, somehow altered by the timeline.
• Tatewaki Kuno, for whatever reason.
• something or someone else.
