A red light started to flash inside the cabin, indicating that the pod has reached a distance of fifty meters to the outer hull of the Zentraedi destroyer. The gravimetric drives decelerated the pod to softly touch down on the hull. A slight increase of the gravity around the breaching point held the pod to the hull as cutting lasers started to burn through the hull.
The Marines stood up from their places and started to attach their extra ammunition and high-explosives to their Powered Assault Armor.
"Okay ladies," the Master Chief said," Get ready for some action."
The hiss from the air lock and the green light indicated that the hull was breached. The lock opened and the Master Chief looked through it. The pull of gravity to his head indicated that the center of gravity of the Zentraedi vessel was up. He turned around in the lock and let himself fall through it, using his jump jets to decelerate his fall. The sensory equipment of his PAA showed him that the air inside the ship was breathable and a look to the left and right showed him that they had gotten a deserted corridor near the hull of the ship. The other Marines of his squad landed next to him.
He would have opened the faceplate of his suit, but the design of the suit was made for space and didn't have a openable faceplate. Just two armored slits over his eyes, combined with laser displays that projected directly into his eyes made it possible to see anything.
A small flashing dot in the corner of his eye showed him that the breaching pod had deployed every of his men and two combat robots, that also carried additional ammunition. He hefted his weapon of choice, as HighVelocity rifle as he turned to his men.
"Ladies, welcome to hell. Now we are on our own."
Other than the Marines in the movies, noone talked as they started to move down the corridor, running from one cover to the next. Everyone knew that they most likely wouldn't return home.
The Master Chief idly thought about the name of this operation. Operation Marked Garden. They and the other nine teams were to move and take control of this Zentraedi vessel. Take over the machine room, the main computer, the bridge and disable as many Zentraedi Battlepods and Powerarmor as they could. His team was ordered to look for the main computer and hack it. If the security of their computer was as 'good' as their encryption, it would be a walk through the park to get control over the ship and fly it to the fleet.
They reached the end of the corridor, a large door stopping their movement. There was a small space between the door and the floor, maybe ten centimeters, large enough for to send a small probe through it. The Master Chief took one of the five centimeter spheric probes from his suit and rolled it under the door. On the other side it came to a stop and started to hover up, its optics transmitting optical data to the Master Chief and the rest of his squad. He frowned at what he saw.
He used a special technique of moving his right hand to start and write a text that was transmitted to the other Marines and the robots. At his nod, twelve grenades with a neurotoxine rolled under the door and released their narcotic load on the other side, knocking out the two Zentraedi there. Some more hand movements with the speed of a professional secretary, he gave some orders to the robots and took cover, like the rest of his men.
The two three meter tall robots pointed their weapon-arms towards the door and opened fire, their high-energy PPC's burning their way through the door, creating a hole large enough for them to move through. As they ceased fire they started to move through the created hole securing the other side.
As the Marines followed them, a door on the other side of the room started to melt in roughly the same area as their door and two robots like theirs stepped through the created hole. The Master Chief nodded towards the Sergeant who was in command of the other team, who nodded back and saluted shortly.
